Thread Starter
We are planning my sister's baby shower for some time in August. She is due September 9 so that is about a month before. So far we know its going to be at my mom's house and there are an expected 30 guests(yikes). The games we have down and the favors are good to go for the most part. We need food ideas.

Its going to be a brunch so any ideas for what to serrve will be welcomed!!

1. Pigs n blankets
2. Fruit tray
3. Veggie tray
4. Chips and dips

Oh and its going to be girl.. ANY input is welcome!

Spinach dip!!! This is a delicious dip, even if you're a big fan of spinach. It's very addictive.

Ingredients:

1 pack of frozen spinach
1 cup of mayonnaise
1 cup of sour cream
Pack of spring vegetable soup mix or something similar (the dry stuff)
Cobb loaf (or similar round crusty bread)

Method:

Defrost spinach and squeeze out excess moisture. Mix spinach, sour cream, mayonnaise and soup mix together. Preferably leave mixture in a bowl to soak for at least a few hours in the fridge so the vegetables in the soup mix can soften up.

Cut the top off the Cobb loaf (a reasonable sized hole), tear out large chunks of bread from the inside to use for dipping and arrange them around the outside of the loaf. Pour spinach mixture inside bread bowl, and put the lid you cut off back on top to keep it fresh.

Notes: You can use low fat sour cream and mayonnaise to make it a little healthier. Once the chunks of bread have been used up to eat the dip, you can either start tearing the bread bowl apart (the favourite for family events) or get extra crackers for people to use (probably better for a baby shower - not as messy!)

Enjoy!!!!!

You should get one of those chocolate fountains!

My cousin had one at her graduation party, and they had fruit to dip it in, pretzels, and all sorts of fun things that go with chocolate (which is everything! )

It was a big hit, and sooo yummy!

if I'm having people over and want to actually enjoy my guests I usually go to BJ's or Sams Club and get those large bags of frozen meatballs. Throw them in a crock pot with sauce and let them cook. Then all you need is a shaker of parm and a basket of rolls! Viola!! They help themselves, and only 1 dish to clean up!

Awww... how about Fondue or something like that?

What are your sisters favorite foods?

You could do a lot of little baby finger foods, for the baby theme - little sandwiches, cookies, veggies - stuff like that?

How about Egg & Sausage casserole, and or hashbrown casserole, both are really easy and can be made ahead of time, so you can enjoy shower. If you need or want recipe let me know.

Hashbrown Casserole:

1 package frozen hashbrowns (Approx 2 lbs) thawed
1 Med onion chopped
16 oz sour cream
1 can cream of chicken soup
2 Cups sharp cheddar cheese
1/2 cup butter or margaine
1 cup crushed corn flakes

Melt butter in saute pan, and onions and let cook about 5 minutes or until soft. Set aside to cool . Mix all other ingredients except corn flakes. Spread in 9 x 13 pan top with corn flakes bake 1 to 1 1/2 hours. cook at 350 degrees. I usually bake about an hour when making casserole, then bake for additional 1/2 hour right before I serve.

Will find egg/sausage casserole and enter here, but my grand daughter just woke up from her nap. She calls I run
