Did you read the story on how I found this little guy? OMG it was so scary! I literally thought I'd have nightmares about it. Even now I just keep picturing that poor tiny baby sitting in the middle of the road while cars were swerving and dodging him. And even while I was running into the road to save him, I was so scared that a car would come along and run over him and I'd SEE it happen! I'd never be able to get over something like that. I just thank God that I was able to get to him in time. I think it took me over an hour before my heart rate went back down to normal.
Yes, I did read how you got him Robin....I can put myself in your place and it makes me naseous....you were meant to save that little guy....

Haha Nikki.....I'm teaching you well!

The cars were already slowing down when they saw my car on the side of the road and me running out into the street. So I was ok. I held my arms up to try and make everyone stop and they did.....thank goodness! I just didn't even think of my own safety at the time......I was just concentrating on getting to the kitten before he got run over. I still can't believe he didn't suffer major injuries! I must have gotten there just in the nick of time. He was totally petrified.....just sitting in the road shaking....not even trying to run at that point. I just ran out there and scooped him up as quickly as I could. Poor baby!

Oh Susie....you can not believe how I kept reliving it and I really thought I'd have nightmares. Every time I think about what could have happened....it makes me want to cry. I just have to keep telling myself....it's ok...I got to him in time....he's safe now.

Oh and Jamie has said now that she will definitely take him!

I told her that I'll still probably have to keep him a few days until he begins to relax a little. Maybe even as long as a few weeks. But I know that she doesn't want to leave Yoda over here that long. She said she really missed him last night when he spent the night over here with me. But I think Yoda has done really well to make such progress with the new kitten.

I don't know.....what do you all think I should do? Should I go ahead and let her take the little baby home in a few days and let him begin to get used to his new home with his new big brother? Or should I keep him a little longer until he's more tame and begins to feel safe?

Well Robin, IMO, I would send him him with his new meowmy and brother. Why keep him there to calm down and get used to humans when your going to uproot him in a few days/week?? I think he'll do much better with Yoda around.......

Yeah, you're probably right. I just don't know if Jamie has any experience with ferals and I do. But you're right.....he may do better if he goes ahead and goes to his new home with his new big brother. It'll still probably take some time for him to feel safe so he'll probably hide alot at first. But while Jamie and Keith are at work, at least there will be two kittens there so they can keep each other company and hopefully become best buds after awhile.

I'd love nothing better than to see this little baby grow into a happy, healthy adult who loves to be loved. And Yoda is such a sweetheart....I think he'd be a good influence on the kitten.

Yeah, while experience with ferals is obviously important, I'm inclined to think that having it at the end of a telephone will suffice, and that it's just as important to let little Yoda become his buddy and encourage him.

I think you're right. I talked to Jamie about it today and she's willing to take the kitten, but wants to wait a few more days because she's scared that she'll do something wrong, plus he's still on antibiotics and she wants me to finish giving him his meds. But, she did say that she'll leave Yoda over here for a few more days until the kitten is ready to come home with her. Yoda is making tremendous progress with the kitten. They are sleeping together and cuddling and Yoda wraps him up in his arms like he's a baby doll and just licks him all over! It's so cute! The kitten is still scared of people though and that may take some time.....but at least he has a new big brother he can feel comfortable with....and I think that's going to help a lot. The kitten doesn't bite or scratch....so he's not dangerous in any way, (at least as far as I can see) but I do want him to get some good nourishment and finish his meds first.

Yea!!
I'm really glad to hear he got a clean bill of health! The pictures worried me a bit when i looked at his eyes, so i'm glad to hear that his eyes are ok. He's definitely one lucky kitty to have you taking such good care of him! Good luck with him!!!

I wanted to give you all an update that I am very excited about!

I went in to check on the boys and of course, the kitten was hiding again. I was worried because he hasn't eaten or drank any water today, so I got him out and placed him next to the water dish. I kinda dipped his mouth in the water to let him know what it was and he immediately started lapping it up. Then I placed him next to his food dish and he started gobbling it all down.....ate every bit of it....and then got another drink of water. He hasn't been eating in front of me....except for once and that was just a few bites....so I was really excited to see him eat AND drink! Then he walked over to Yoda, (didn't run and hide right away) and Yoda started licking him. Then the little baby looked at me right in the eyes and he didn't have that "scary look" in his eyes this time. Then he proceeded to lick his paws and wash his face and just looked around for a few minutes. He seemed much more relaxed and I just sat there very still for as long as the moment lasted. He even started to play with the mouse....just kinda pawed at it...then looked at me again as if he felt self-conscious.....and then he went and hid again. I could actually see the "kitten" in him wanting to come out and play and just be a kitten...but his fear got the best of him again.

It only lasted for about 5 minutes.....but at least it's progress!

It really did my heart good to see him relax enough to eat and drink and clean his face and then *almost* start to play. This is only his 2nd full day with me......so I feel like we're doing well. I'm gonna win him over yet!

The new kitten and Yoda are doing well together! I was able to snap a few more pictures but they were moving around so fast that these aren't my normal quality photos. Oh well....at least you can see how well they are getting along.

In this one, you can definitely see the difference in his "look"...he looks much more relaxed doesn't he?

Kitten hugs. I swear he looks like he's smiling here. I think it's cuz everyone likes hugs.

I think you're right. You should see them right now......they are curled up together on the blanket on the floor and they look like a big ball of black fur. Jamie came over awhile ago to bring some more kitten food and she was amazed at how close they've gotten already. Yoda was licking the kitten and then the kitten began licking Yoda! It was so sweet! They are wrapped in each other's arms as if they've known each other all their lives. Jamie said, "Well I don't have any choice now....I have to take the kitten because Yoda has gotten so attached to him." It's amazing how fast they bonded.

That sure was a great idea I had wasn't it?

Oh yeah......I forgot to tell you all. The people at the vet's office in Mississippi decided to name him Dashboard since that's where he went when I put him in my car. But Jamie says that her fiance Keith wants to call him "Chewey" for Chewbaka in Star Wars. Can you tell he's a Star Wars fan?

Yup, I reckon he should be Chewy!!! I was going to suggest a Star Wars name as well for the new guy

It's so wonderful to see how he's getting on now. It really warms my heart to see
Thanks for the pics, they're great!

Oh, thank you for the updates and the new pics, Robin!! He's doing so well! How lovely that he was able to relax for a short while and just tend kitty things instead of hiding. And how sweet he and Yoda are together! They'll be great buds.
