Your honest thoughts: What's your reaction to unsolicited siggies?

Another forum I used to go to has a 'graphic practise thread' where you can post pictures if you don't mind people working on them and then the graphics people post them in the thread for everyone too see.

They also have competitions where the winner gets to choose the next picture, both are fun and great for practise. Its great to look back on the past competitions and see how people have improved over time

Maybe we should just flood anybody who dares to post in this forum with sigs? I enjoy playing around, and am not the least bit aggravated if somebody chooses a better siggy. I just wondered if members who posted here felt under pressure?

I never have sigs made for me so I don't know how the recipients feel.

But then I don't need the extra worries, I worry loads about whether people will like the sigs I make when they actually ASK me so I make them 2-5 hoping they will like one.

I normally make a few myself for the same reason!!!

I'm a bit paranoid, because my paternal grandmother, her niece (first cousin once removed), and my older brother were all "professionals", and my niece has won all sorts of awards for her (published) caricatures.

Drawing and siggies are two completely different things. I can barely draw a stick figure, but I can occasionally turn out a decent siggy.

I like the background you used in your current one, it shows off Jamie very well. Picking the right background is hard.

Maybe Krazy_Kat2 can post a few pics and we can all take a stab at it?

I sure don't mind. It's an honor when someone thinks of me to make me a siggy. And I like to change mine every now and then so it's good to have a whole 'wardrobe' of them!

I would not mind if someone wanted to make me siggies. I love that each “artist†has a totally different spin for the same pictures and color scream. If I had more then one I would tray and change it every week or so. I would be happy to send my pics to anyone willing to play.

But just because they chose to use another siggy, doesn't mean it's better

I don't seem to have much control over my own siggy lately. It just changes on a daily basis all by itself

So where do we post pics for you guys to get your practise on? I just want to help so you can get more practise
I really need a siggy but didn't want to ask any one, I put a picture in mine, but as you can see I should have asked for help and left designing a siggy to you expirienced professionals But I will donate more pics then you can use and any one is welcome to expiriment with any of my kitty pics. (I have tons of kitten pics too)

You all do a great job, I wish I had half the talent of any one of you making them (then mabey I could do dead mice cartoons )

Well I have been trying! But the camera was in a box in the closet, then I got it out and Dori wouldn't leave the closet, then I loaned the camera out, and now the batteries are dead!

I love recieving siggies that I haven't asked for! I don't always use them, but that doesn't mean I don't appreciate them.

I have mad so many sigs of my kitties I've ran out of pics.
I have been "stealing" pics from furpics to make more sigs but haven't sent any out.

I have wondered the same thing, as I am very new to siggy making! I always enjoy the extra practice! While I love looking at Maddens sweet face, doing someone else's cats is really fun too.

I've never gotten an unsolicited sig, but I think that it would be a great suprise, and if I sent one to someone, I don't think my feelings would be hurt if they didn't use it. After all, I'm usually just fooling around for my own practice and enjoyment.

Wow, an unsolicited siggy - that would be like a Christmas present! I love getting new ideas - since I get kind of in a rut. I've seen those sites before where they give you a photo and then you have a certain amount of time to manipulate that photo, it's pretty neat.

Me!! I'm in!! Sounds like fun!!

I think a "siggy shower" would be awesome! A new thread could be started where members who want to be showered with siggies can post photos or links to their photos. Anyone who wants to design a siggy can do so & post it in the thread.

I'm a little behind on requests at the moment, but when I have nothing to work on I go stir crazy... so a thread with new material would be great!

Oh, a siggy shower is such a cute idea. Of course people should put all the geeky details like fonts, effects, blends & stuff too, ya think?

If they know about that type of thing. I usually ask for preferred colors/sayings, and big photos.
I can see I've really started something with this thread! Being somebody who changes her siggy on an almost weekly basis, I kind of thought that there must be other members who might like a variety, but hesitate to ask, or are afraid they'll offend somebody if they change their siggy, or don't use one they don't particularly like.
I get a bit bored just using Jamie all the time, and he's fed up with having his photo taken. I like to experiment with photos of other people's cats, but don't want to upset anybody by sending them an unsolicited siggy that they positively hate, but are too polite to reject.

It's a photo of a CD, a bit distorted because I changed the dimensions.
