In regards to the thread I left last night,
http://www.thecatsite.com/forums/showthread.php?t=89400

I am writing a letter to my boss about the situation. It's been a while since I've had to write a co-worker complaint letter, so please post any inputs that you might have (PS, I'm not quitting yet! Not without another job!).
(To translate:
MyBoss = My boss
Poopyhead = Owner's son
AcctMgr = Accounting Manager
COO = the COO, second in command of this company
Headhauncho1 = 1 of the other Head Haunchos

Hi MyBoss:

Thursday about 4 pm, Poopyhead called me to inquire why he did not have access to the General Ledger. Following protocol that user security to Navision must come to me through AcctMgr (approved either by you, headhauncho1 or COO) I told him that he needed to speak with AcctMgr regarding this access. After telling him this, in a very angry condescending style, he told me that he does not make requests from AcctMgr, AcctMgr makes requests from him and that I need to get it through my head that he can have whatever he wants without needing permission from anyone.

COO called me shortly afterwards and kindly told me that Poopyhead does need access to the General Ledger and he checked with my list on who has access to the General Ledger. So Poopyhead does have access to the General Ledger.

I understand perfectly that he is the Presidents son; I have understood this since day one. However with part of this Navision upgrade I am also attempting to implement some security protocols that were not there with the previous version. It was not what he said to me that bothered me, but it was how he said it to me. I have never been spoken down to in such a manner in my entire life and hope that this does not occur again.

Thanks!

the only thing I don't like is the way you worded this:
After telling him this, in a very angry condescending style, he told me that he does not make requests from AcctMgr, AcctMgr makes requests from him and that I need to get it through my head that he can have whatever he wants without needing permission from anyone.
I would put: After telling him this he replied to me in a very angry condescending style tone instead of style, he told me and then take out he told me that he does not make requests from AcctMgr, AcctMgr makes requests from him and that I need to get it through my head that he can have whatever he wants without needing permission from anyone.
other than that- sounds good!

Thank you!
I was trying to think of the best way to describe him without using swear words and getting the help I've requested removed by the mods!

Maybe I send this letter to the boss instead...nah...then he'll think I'm being funny about it.

I work in a small office with 2 poopyhead sons also. Thier father owns the company and they are the "VP's" of the company. One of them I feel would do awesome running the company business wise. He would just be very sterm as apposed to his father being a push-over

The other one is an estimator and has NO business sense at all. He's a "yes-man" and avoids confrontations at ALL costs... literally. None of them will ever say anything to your face though. They complain about everyone behind thier backs and to co-workers but never to your face

Thanks guys! I sent the email off late yesterday afternoon.

This guy is such a terd too...the other management (ones HIGHER than him...his dad is still Prez, but off in California all the time) will pull him by the ear and yank him back in line every so often. I.e. my first day I got a tour of the company by my [future] boss. Poopyhead comes along an hour later after I settled into my office and gave me another tour. Not knowing what to do, I followed. my boss found out about this and basically gave him a good tongue lashing for it.
A month later he was basically told to only talk to me if he had a computer issue (he was trying to rank me into working for solely his department).

In short...too much of a circus of politics for me.

Wow. I really feel for you. As an accounting manager I am extemely sensitive to any issues with the general ledger. Aside from the rudeness of poopyhead good for you for bringing up the issue of protocols. There was nothing wrong with your request to have the accounting managers approval and in fact it is the right thing to do. I work for a non profit and even though the Sarbanes/Oxley act does not affect us we have implented many internal accounting controls for the protection of the company AND the employees. The accounting world has changed and we have to be vigilant about the general ledger and access to it. Not even my controller has the access I do and certain requests have to be made through me. No exceptions. Even though Poopyhead did have access you can point out you were looking out for the company by confirming said access with the accounting manager. I think you did the exact right thing and I wish you luck with this. Hopefully the power that be will see that you are safeguarding thier assets.
