hello,
my neighbors went on a bussnies trip. They are coming back in 3 months.
they left me a mother cat and six kittys that are 3 days old. Please i need infore about what I need for them. I got a big dog crate. I am keeping them
behide the sofa. which there is a lot of room. because I want to sperate them from my other cats. I put a heater my them to keep them warm. so any ideas.

Thanks. I will see if i could put a picture of them up.

First a quick question...is the sofa in a room that is used often or is it one that is quiet?? Typically it is best to find a room that doesn't have that much traffic (like a closet or a bathroom) so mom doesn't get paniced. Make sure that mom has her litterbox and her food (quality kitten food) and water closeby. As far as the heater goes...make sure it is on low and far enough away to not accidentally burn mom or the kittens. Having a lot of space is good...but consider for a moment when the kittens get older and start to wonder...is there anything that could be dangerous to them??

Wow, what wonderful pet owners. Glad you are taking them in. I can't believe someone would leave a new mother and young babies in a strange environment like that. How stressful on them all... Well good luck. A big dog crate is probably the best way to go unless you can keep them in a room completely to themselves. Be prepared for any vet care they may need. They will need their vaccinations at 6 - 8 weeks or so and another set 4 weeks later. Be sure to keep the mother inside cuz she will go back into heat again really soon and can get pregnant again right away.

dog crate is a good idea but make sure they can't get caught between bars if its a metal crate(they will try alot of stuff at a young age-even before eyes open they can get around alot). Did they tell you plans(adopting out, keeping 7,shelter?) or is this a trap of they are yours now. If mom seems happy were they are I'd leave them. If anything maybe they will be more socialized due to being out in the mainstream. As for the heater if its that cool where they are I'd use something(I used a heating pad on low on one side of thier cardboard box-if to hot they could migrate to other end-Did that mostly cause Misty really doesn't care to much for her babies-she stayed out of box most of time and would pop in to nurse them. nobody goes behind the sofa. all my cats go in all the rooms. so i am going to
keep them behind the sofa.About the heater. at night it is a little cold in my house. If they dumped the cats at my house I have to take care of nine cats.
But at least momma and babies are not outside. Momma doesnt get prengagt.

true about being better inside-just make sure to be careful-she will go back into heat sooner or later. any thought of keeping them all? if not go to petfinder.com they have classifieds and also you can search local shelters-start now while they are young then you willhave more options about getting a rescue to courtsey list-where they put you on their site with your number or maybe you could do the foster and let shelter rehome. Good luck with it all-22 cats here and sometimes its absolutley nuts lol. RJ

I think i will keep them. I dont think they want them back.I think i will find them loving homes. My friends that work with me in petsmart will like one.
so that is a good thing. i will have spay and neuter them now. I have to get my kitten neutered too. At least they wont breed with each other and have MORE kittens.
