What's the last emergency you've been involved in?
Last month for Search & Rescue- a missing individual-search lasted 5 days without finding the person -not the outcome we hope for.

I had an engine failure on very short final approach (twin engine) with 6 CN rail workers onboard in January.

Umm I guess when Lee wrecked my car in I think March. Other than that its when a guy at the store was having an allegic reaction to something. He asked for a cup of ice water and sat down at a table and his throat closed up. He almost died!!

Oh my goodness!!, did he know that he was allergic to what caused the reaction?

Well, there's been a couple emergencies lately but the last one I was personally involved in was when Pandora decided to have a late night snack... on an power cord! Electrocuted herself and i had to rush her to the emergency vet at midnight she's completey recovered but has definitely knocked off a few of her 9 lives

I would say that would be last friday when me and bf were driving home and two vehicles wrecked and the one went over an embankment shearing a tree and landing on it's rood ejecting the female driver. We ran down along with others to try and help but there was nothing to do, she was laying there talking but she looked pretty beat up, we thought she would be OK. Medical personal arrived almost instantly as it was across from a fire dept, and she was taken by helicopter to a hospital.. but died overnight

He didn't know what he ate or touched. I don't think he knows to this day cause the reaction.

I can't really think of one... except for a minor emergency Sunday.

I was cutting up carrots for a pot roast - somehow I managed to line my left thumb up with the carrots , and you know how tough carrots are and how you have to push down to slice them (you get the picture)... yep, I sliced my thumb pretty good.

Luckily my husband was just outside the door, so he came in and got me all banadaged up. I didn't need stitches and thankfully it isn't nearly as sore as I thought it was going to be.

A good friend of mine had a stroke. I had to call 911. It was one of the scarest things I've ever done.

You know Arlyn, I don't know how that happens. I spell things the right way, etc, and then somehow it's different when I post it........I wonder if it's the "messwithher ferrys" messing with me again!

I think Wyan does it. You know how he is about spelling and how perfect we all are and never make spelling mistakes. He has to find SOMETHING to tease us about!!

I have what my mother calls premature 'senior moments', perhaps you do too?
Probably last year when we had to rush one of the cats for an emergency c-section. There was about five of us in the room reviving kittens!

Other than the incident two years ago (which I probably repeated two dozen times on this forum), I had an chemical accident in a quantitive analysis lab three years ago that resulted in first and second-degree burns over the entire face.

Burts bees baby lotion saved me. Unfortunately they don't make the same lotion anymore since the company was brought by another company.

I don't see "scapegoat" under my username.

I haven't had an emergency for ages.

Real emergency:

While I was deployed in 2004--Had an Airmen come in with a drug overdose....my ONLY patient the entire time I was there. Non-responsive, intubated (my job kicks in as an RT), Tubed him, adjusted the ventilator settings, ect...

He started to wake up...so we pulled the tube out (breathing tube for non medics), and he puked on my shoe...lovely.

Non emergency but still emergent, we were in the commissary and I heard of the intercom, 911 man down in Aisle 2....so I get out of the grocery line and run to aisle 2. Man down, conscious, he had fainted. Have him stay down, elevated his head...he starts to go unconscious on me again and looks like he might be in the process of vomitting, so I gently move his body to the recovery position to maintain his airway just in case.

He comes back to, the medics come on scene...I give them report....(I was just a bystander okay but the medical person in me will never die) and let them take over. All I know is they took him to the local hospital.

Hmm...wow.

Probably my own emergency when the doctor said "SHE'S GOTTA HAVE THIS BABY RIGHT NOW!!"

(at a regular appointment, was definatly not ready for that)

Wow....you all have been through some stuff!

I think my last emergency was when my niece *had to go potty really bad!*
post #24 of 28
My last emergency was when I went over to the renters to ask see if he had any trash to take out since he'd just moved in, he told me he wasn't feeling well and wasn't holding anything down, I asked him if he needed to go to the ER and he said he didn't have a way there. I took him and it turned out he hadn't taken his insulin for 2 months and was going into an insulin coma. He ended up in ICU during the night and I guess from what I heard, went into a diabetic coma because they couldn't regulate his insulin. They finally regulated him the next afternoon and he came out of it and checked himself out of the hospital because he "felt better". stupid, stupid man! But so far nothing bad has happened to him because he did that.

Oh I don't do emergencies!
My c-section 7 years ago?

I did tons of emergencies but being a Cardiopulmonary technician in the Air Force for 7 years--I worked Cardiology(a few emergencies there)for 4 years, and Respiratory therapy off and on, you'll be assured to see a few real medical emergencies here and there.....and some weird freaky stuff too.

My latest emergency turned out to be a false alarm (thank God). The tuesday after the Memorial Day weekend the fire alarm went off in my building @ 4 am. I ran to get Maggie May & Jazz a Boo and of course they were under the bed (I don't fit under there) so I ran into the kitchen opened a can of food and screamed TREATS!!!!! at the top of my lungs!!! Didn't work. I had to drag Jazz out from under the bed with her screaming and hissing at me put her in the carrier and go back for MM. She ran out and I stuffed her into the carrier w/Jazz. By the time I got out of the door my neighbor came back and the super said it was a false alarm. Then I look at myself and realized I had just woken up I was in my pj's with no money/wallet or cell phone. I spent the next couple of nights unable to sleep because I thought the alarm would go off again!
