I have really had it with one of the girls in my office.
She thinks the office smells funny so what does she do? Sprays this god awful spray in the air. She doesn't spray it only in her area she spays it every where. And so much of it I am coughing and tasting it. I am getting a headache from it because I am very sensitive to smells. Ugh!! It makes me so mad!!

IA. If you need me, just meow..
Can you let her know that her spraying that stuff is giving you a headache?
If she doesn't stop after that, I'd go to the boss. You shouldn't be uncomfortable in your own work area. That's not right, especially if you have to be there 8 hours out of your day.

I know a ton of workplaces that have banned people from wearing heavy perfumes, applying scented hand lotion, having stinky candles, etc because of the allergy and asthma risk. Maybe check into this...

The boss isn't here. Usually she is and tells her to stop. I just don't like it at all. She doesn't realize it irritates people. We have propped the back door open to let fresh air in.

If you knew her you would understand why she didn't ask. this is the same one who walks around laughing at EVERYTHING. You don't have to look at her or say anyhting but she will laugh.

my entire family is the same way (not so much me and my mom and dad but my 2 sisters are pretty sensitive) and it is a struggle for them to even go to school. you should really look into it. there are sites that you can go to. my mom does some of that stuff where she tries to get alot of public places fragrance free. good luck. http://www.ourlittleplace.com/stephanie.html this about my older sister when she was little. if you want help getting your work place fragrance free my mom's email is at the bottom of the webpage and she would be more than happy to help you. i really suggest you look into this. it really does make a difference
she has made all of the public schools and even some other public places in my city fragrance free. she really can help.

I also have strange reactions to that crap and have to leave. I wouldn't be able to work there and you shouldn't have to.

Maybe you could compromise and ask her to use unscented febreze or something, but from what you say she'd manage to overdo anything but a spraygun full of water!

Why does your office smell? Perhaps there's a mold problem?

My office is an old meat locker. Before they put tile down around christmas we had this carpet that was atleast 10 years old and so dirty. Everyone was sick all the time. We know there is mold in the warehouse but they won't fix the leaky roof and the we probably won't be approved for a new building until this one falls down. All the buildings around here on Ft.Benning are in pretty bad shape. There are a few nice ones but not many!!

That is inconsiderate indeed.

Maybe the office should get an ionic air purifier so there wouldn't be an odor in the office in the first place. Ionic air purifier also gets rid of mold spores in the air.

Talk to your boss. The increase in productivity would be well worth the cost.

I invested in one this February. Ever since then my health increased remarkably.

I work for the government. We don't get stuff like that!! We need a new building. This one needs to be torn down and rebuilt. Plus our part of the government is broke. They are doing stop works around here.

Yes, buy her some Febreze, and throw out the spray cans. And remember Febreze comes in the plastic squirt bottles, too (I think). So as the bottle gets empty, you could add water to thin it down!
Also the spray from a plastic bottle settles quicker than from a can, IMO.

I have a co-worker who loves to spray, too, but otherwise he is great. I can just close my office when he gets in the mood. He will overspray his office, the hallways, etc!

I don't know if Febreze still make those Scentplayers. Those are great!!! I am allergic to a lot of stuff but their stuff doesn't bother me at all!!!

You can get an ionic air purifier (desktop model) for your own cubicle for about $40. That is what I have. I got mine from Sharper Image when they had the 50% off special.

Here is one for $20. http://www.sharperimage.com/us/en/ca.../sku__SI636GRY
