Glad I am not the only one

I am so bad... I am supposed to be working (and I am actually doing stuff at the same time) but have the CANOE.ca gamecast going and am getting updates by email and text from friends who are lucky enough to be home.

I caught the last twenty minutes: Australia made three goals! What an exciting end to the match.
The USA didn't fare as well: They lost to the Czech Republic 0:3.

all of a sudden they goal again AND BY THIS TIME I WAS HYPERRRRRRR!!
WHen they scored the 3rd goal i was screaming and then shortly after it the game ended!

I was so nuts this afternoon!

It's difficult not to get caught up in the "WM fever" here. Switzerland faces off against France on Wednesday, and the fans are pouring in.

ENGLAND... LAND OF HOPE AND GLORY!
I hate football with a passion even though it's England, but thursday weve been asked if we want to start at 8.a.m so we can finish at 4.p.m so they can get home to watch the England match.

Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!!!!

France played against Switzerland this evening - I had my days mixed up (not difficult, with three games a day, and over a million visitors). 0:0. So far, things have been peaceful, though there are worries about Iran. Germany doesn't want to admit the country's president, should he decide to come, but is apparently obligated to, under FIFA rules. There are all sorts of rumors that Iran will stage an attack against its own team, in an attempt to discredit exile Iranians. Conspiracy theories, anyone?

I heard about that because Iran is playing here in frankfurt, we have been warned to not take public transport unless absolutely necessary or go into crowded places.
My teachers daughter has the ticket to watch iran here in frankfurt, she is soo worried that something is going to happen.

There's a certain amount of paranoia about terrorist attacks. Our neighbors' daughter's s.o., who's a German cop, reminded me on Sunday that I'm legally required to carry ID at all times, particularly now. I'm not about to carry my passport around, and my German driver's license doesn't include my address (and the photo is decades old). Wonderful. The U.S. doesn't have official ID cards, and I'm not a German citizen.
