The U.S. didn't make it into the knock-out round - Ghana beat them today! Stuttgart has been invaded by Aussies and Croats - their teams play in about 90 minutes. I can't believe how many people have made the long trip from Down Under to watch soccer. There are people draped in the Australian flag all over with inflatable kangaroos, Koala bears in their hair, etc..

Australia drew with Croatia (2-2) which means we move to the next round

I set the alarm for 5am this morning to get up and watch the match. Considering we havent been in the world cup for 30 years this is a pretty special moment for the nation

GO AUSSIES GO!! GO AUSSIES GO!! GO AUSSIES GO!! GO AUSSIES GO!!

The Socceroos rock! I was so mad - the game wasn't televised here. Instead, Brazil vs. Japan was broadcast. How boring!

oh yes - how boring

you missed a good match. It was nail-biting even down to the last minutes. Not necessarily a good way to start the morning. Jasmine eventually woke up when Chris & I started screaming and jumping around

Rigel, would you believe that thousands of Mexican fans have come here to "experience" the games? Some have tickets, but most seem to be traveling from city to city to watch the games in Public Viewing Areas, and to party with soccer fans from all over the world. At the moment, Germany is one big party. What an event! I was dreading the World Cup before it started, because I was afraid of too many confrontations between fans of opposing teams, and terrorist attacks, but the mood here is incredible. Very un-German!

Germany made the quarter finals: 2 - 0 against Sweden. Mexico and Argentina are 1 - 1 after 45 minutes. Tomorrow England plays against Ecuador in Stuttgart: I think the heat is going to hurt England.
