I have been a foster home for momma cats and their babies for the past year. After having 11 wonderful kitties in my home, I received a very aggressive cat. She scratched and bit repeatedly despite trying all the usual methods for handling aggression. Frankly, I became terrified of her and requested that she be moved out of my home. I understand she continued to bite at the next foster home.

My question is do you have to be able to put up with aggressive cats in order to be a temporary care home? I am not cut out to deal with a biting cat. Does that mean I should stop fostering?

This depends completely on the agency you are working with. I foster for a group than accepts only healthy, highly adoptable cats with no known behavior problems. Because we work with highly desirable cats, I have never had a foster cat longer than two months before it was adopted.

Most agencies are so desperate for fosters, that they will probably be okay with it if you tell them you cannot accept aggressive cats. It doesn't hurt to try.
