As some of you already now i recently discovered that princess has fleas (shes in indoor cat) some of you told me to take the flea collar off and not to wash her with with flea soap so i rewashed her with mild dawn soap. i am not sure what flea stuff to get frontline or advantage. i did some research this morning and advantage seems to be cheaper and works 98% better (i didnt get % on frontline) i will be ordering the stuff off line when I get paid on thursday. I was just curious on which one to get does any one have any advise on which one they like better? Also I was wondering what should I use for the house just in case (they probably are) in the house. I have a bagless vacum so i have been washing that out everytime i use it as well and keep my bedroom door shut and dont let her sleep in there any more
until we get the fleas gone. thanks for all of your help......

We actually use Revolution since it covers worms and earmites as well as fleas. Having said that, I believe the most reliable place to get Revolution is from a vet since I also believe it is prescription only.

Yes, Revolution is prescription only. I was discussing this same subject with my vet just the other day and she also suggested I go with revolution. Fromt he prices I gathered online, their price seemed to be about as cheap as the cheapest ones online. I paid $68 for a pack of 6 (plus they had some deal where I got an extra 1 for free), so I got 7 months worth of coverage for just under $10 a month.

I also went along with Revolution because it covered more than the others did.

I also want to proudly add that Skittles did VERY well with his first treatment. He didn't even try to run away.

I also use Revolution and most vets will honor any online price. They threw in one free for me too.

I am actually switching the cats to Revolution Monday when I take the little one to the vet. I had Petunia on advantage and most of my other pets were on advantage, but the vet recommended revolution because it cover more---and not that much more expensive.

My 2 cents, lol!

My vet didn't have anything bad to say about Revolution, but he said he personally prefers Advantage for fleas used with Interceptor for heart worm. He offer Revolution, Frontline, and Advantage (and Interceptor) all at the office, but I went with his suggestion and use Advantage and Interceptor. Good luck choosing! (Oh and it wasn't just him wanting more money, b/c I compared the price of buying advantage and interceptor to the price of revolution, and there wasn't much difference, atleast not at my vet)

They have this spray you can buy that kills ticks, fleas and some other things. You spray it on furniture or carpets, beds, etc and it is safe to use around dogs, puppies, cat, and kittens. I forgot the name but I will check it out and post it later. Im sure you could get it at petco or any pet store.

As for flea prevention I use Frontline on my cats.

I use frontline. My vet said is the best one out there. my cat is indoor cat. Maybe there is some fleas in your house? Princess is a indoor cat am i right?
so maybe when you leave and comeback to your house some fleas might come in. I would spray the house just to be on the safe side. I hope that helped out.

Good luck

kittylova.

I've used frontline many years ago after using advantage...Didn't think it lasted as long as the advantage so switched back. Have used advantage since 96 with only 1 issue on a cat who drooled from it. I have never used anyhting from the petstores like hartz/biospot. Far as worms/mites I treat my cats with a generic dewormer or the tape tabs(not really an issue unless I get a new cat) and never had earmites. RJ

I use Advantage all the way.

As far as what to do about fleas in your home, I think applying Advantage on your cat will take care of the entire problem. You basically turn your kitty into a walking flea killer once that stuff is on. I once had a flea problem that I had brought in (NOT my cats)...I applied Advantage on them anyway so that they could rid the entire home of fleas. Works so much better than Raid!

I like Advantage much better than Frontline. You can also buy larger tubes and break them down into appropriate size doses with a syringe, which can save a ton of money. The only side effect I've ever seen from Advantage is a dime-sized bald spot where it was applied, which grew back in a couple of weeks.

All things considered, though, I think Revolution does the best job.

Another one hooked on Advantage, I have never tried Frontline though, and never will because Advangate completly takes care of the problem.

I've used both frontline and advangage and have found that both work well. (my kitties are indoors only, but i have a dog and don't want to risk her tracking fleas in the house).I'm interested to try the Revolution after reading some of the positive posts others have written. Also, i don't use Advantave for cats, i use the Advantage for Small Dogs....It has identical ingredients as the cat formula does, they just package it differently to make more money
but you must watch the dosing and only use 4 drops if you do that.i put 4 drops on the back of each cats neck once a month and it is enough to put flea treatment on all of my cats....this doesn't work with frontline though , you have to use the cat formula. Some people don't recommend using a dog flea treatment on cats, and i don't advicate...but from personal experience, 4 drops once a month of regular small dog advantage does a wonderful job for my girls. Whatever you choose though, be sure to make sure the fleas are gone from your house as well.

Maybe I worry too much but I for one would never order medication of ANY kind on the internet - human or animal. For one thing you cannot be certain you are getting the real stuff and not some knock-off product. When I buy from my vet I know what I'm getting and if there is any problem I have him backing me and helping me.

I would not take any chances when it comes to the health of our beloved cats.

I also would not buy dog treatment for a cat unless I was experienced with the product and the correct dosage to give. I can fully understand some folks like Hissy (who has more experience that a lot of us put together) buying in bulk and dosing her numerous animals because it's more cost effective for her, but for those of us who do not have the experience, knowledge or menagerie
, my feeling is that the vet is the place to get medication.

I use revolution on my cat and frontline and inteceptor for my dog mostly because revolution covers heartworms and my cat is almost impossible to give oral meds too.
