Yes, it's true: My 58th year of life is drawing to a close (several hours from now here in the States). I'd drawn up a long list of my accomplishments, but the cats ate it!

Well, Joe, I read your recent thread about the SETI thing and almost jumped aboard, but I was concerned with having yet one more thing on this computer that could foster incompatabilites. Amount of time devoted to work and graduate studies has limited my actual posting over the past few months, but I do check in at least once a day. Getting back into posting becomes much like merging onto the highway during rush hour~ a little tough to get up to speed.

Yes, I appreciate your not wanting to introduce an application which may not get along with your computer system. I've had such problems myself, but fortunately not with the SETI application. Of course, one never knows which application will screw things up until it's too late!



What messed up Samantha (my computer system) for about a month, until I figured out what was wrong, was a bundle of adware/sneakware/spyware (scumware) which got into her system during the time she was ill with a viral infection. "McAfee VirusScan" took care of the virus, all right; but it wasn't until some weeks later, when I put "Ad-aware" to work, that I discovered the scumware: It was sapping memory at a tremendous rate! All that uninvited stuff is now dead and gone.
