Hello all!

I went to walmart to get hamburger, and ended up with a new baby girl. lol

There was a woman and her 20,000 kids giving away kittens at Walmart this weekend. The kittens were WAY too young to have been taken away from mom. So i figured if I took the last one, it would at least go to a home that could care for it a little better than one that didn't know what to expect from such a young baby.

We have been looking for another kitten. Polly our blue tabby polydactyl is an only child, and we thought she might do well with a friend.

The little girl I picked up this weekend was perfect. We wanted a female, and I wanted a calico, OR another kitty who's colors coordinated with Polly's, AND had a great little personality. lol I think I got it in this little girl. I got my calico, AND her black isn't black, it's blue with tabby patterns like Polly, AND BOY! Does she have a personality!! (I know the color coordination thing might be a little overboard, BUT, I can't help it! I wouldn't have passed up a sweet deserving kitty though had a "non-matching" one come around. lol)

Enjoy the pictures! She is SO tiny. Polly isn't a very big cat, and you can see by their pictures together how little she is.

What should we name her?? I have thought about Callie, but wow, That would be TWO cats with un-original names!! lol (Polly the "polly"dactyl and Callie the Calico) Please puts your brains to work for half a second and shoot some ideas at me! I am at a loss!

Just a suggestion, on one so young, please don't put a collar on unless it is a breakaway. she can easily snag it on something and choke. She is a beautiful muted calico kitten.

Thanks for the concern! That was my point to my boyfriend when he wanted to put it on her. I wanted a bell, because she is SO little and fast, she gets underfoot so quickly. At least with a bell, you could HEAR her running towards your feet!

So he modified the little keychain thingy. It gives very easily under the slightest tug, but stays put if it is just hanging. He's a genious! I will get her a break-awyay collar like polly's when her neck is big enough to keep it on!

Do you think she is a long medium or short hair?? She has LOTS of kitty fuzz. And I remember that Polly had a lot of kitty fuzz back in the day, but i am not sure. Also, do you think the borders of her color splothes will get more defined as she looses her baby fuzz? I love her muted coloring. And her personality is SOOOOO cute and funny.

I don't know!! That has been on my mind, but nothing really calls out to me. I am VERY open to suggestions. I like the name Callie. But that is SO unoriginal! lol

We already have ONE unoriginal named cat in the house, Polly, who is a 26 toed "polly" dactyl. lol do we really need 2??

What do you think? Suggestions?

an ice cube in Iowa...
She's wonderful!!! Love her muted cali markings.

Names, names, let's see...

Here's some "old and farty" names that for some reason I find adorable for female cats...even kittens (no offense to anyone with these names!!!):

Ethel
Pearl
Mabel
Opal
Maybelline
Henrietta
Adeline
Jemima
Ruby
Millie
Hazel
Marge
Peggy (or Peggy Sue!)
Hattie or Mattie
Matilda
Fanny (love this name!!!!!!!!)
Dorothy

Okay, here's if you want to go more elegant and girlie:

Sophia
Tatiana (love this one)
Hannah (I have a student with this name...she's deaf, blind, and has no movement in her body. My favorite little gal EVER!!! If I have a girl someday, she will be named Hannah!!!!)
Noelle
Nicolette
Natasha
Venus
Persephone
Francesca
Danielle (or Daniella)
Antoinette

Now, my personal favorite name category, THE SILLY:

Ms. Callikins
Miss Fuzzafeet
Stinkerbelle
Madam Doodlebug
Mrs. Whiskerson
Yoplait
Callie Le Mew

She's very adorable. I love how Polly is already play-fighting with her. Personally, since you have a Polly, it would make sense to have a Peggy, or even a Peggy Sue.

She's so tiny!! The first thing that popped into my head was Smidge (you know like a smidgen of this or that) and I think Midge for short would be cute too!

She's a gorgeous baby by the way!! I'm sure whatever you name her will fit beautifully!

Those pictures of Polly washing the little one remind me of how Rosie was when Sophie was a baby

Their going to be forever friends, you can tell

Thanks for all the suggestions!!

I can't believe I am having such a hard time with this!

Here are a couple names I am tossing around. I am NOT convinced any of these will work either.

Let me know what you think...

Cali
Casey
Lucy
Pixie
Peanut

When I can narrow it down I call kitty by the short list of names.

That's how Smidge got hers - it was a nick only and she answered to it almost immediately...guess I'm stuck with it1

I like Lucy - that was on my list too.

She's darling!

My kitties when I name them I have rules I follow:

1. Unique name
2. Never rename a cat after another cat that's passed...to me it feels like bad karma.
4. I pick a name that fits the personality of the cat.

Hence my sweet Pandora (she's a fur ball of trouble).
And Pearl....well....she's white and lilac grey like a Pearl.

I did have a Tortie kitten once that we called Scarlet

Perhaps you coulc call her Cecila?

I like Cecila, CiCi for short? That's cute! I really liked Lucy, but then the daddy of the house didn't like it.
THEN i just read a few seconds ago that there is another Lucy in this forum that is a calico! lol So I think Lucy is out.
