That's what I heard from the mouths of babes tonight. The ball diamond was rained out, so I went to the batting cage to use some pent up energy. (I have lots!
) I was swinging away when some young kids began watching behind me. I was just concentrating on hitting while they were talking and didn't notice what they were talking about until I heard one reply to the other with: "...yeah they lob it to you and you get to crank it." He was obviously talking about how the ball is thrown to you in slow pitch softball and he was right. It kind of made me chuckle inside, so I turned around and said, "Yep, that's exactly what softball is like." I grinned and dropped another coin in the box as I thought about how l'd think twice before ever trading places with this kid in life. "They lob it to you and you get to crank it." Oh how I love slow pitch softball!

Do you crank it?
Sometimes I do.
Sometimes I hit a weak grounder.
Get playing again Laura!

When you get tired of the Jack Sparrow quote (which is a great one!), you can put that kid's line as your signature!

If I didn't like the jack Sparrow quote so much I would have replaced it immediately! This kid's quote is next in line though for sure.

I have to tell you Ryan that I hated Slo Pitch. I played in a league for Fast Ball and at least was able to hit the ball. I always had trouble hitting the ball in Slo Pitch.

But I had a good arm - could throw from centre field to home base.

Seriously, I don't believe that. I assumed you're weren't playing for a number of other legitimate reasons, such as raising Brandon or that Brent wasn't into it or whatever. If you look carefully there would likely be some leagues within 15 minutes of where you live. The U.S. is softball heaven for goodness sake!
There should at least be some church leagues or "bush" leagues that play at nearby schools.

If you had even half that arm today, you'd still have some people beat!

There are lots of people who have trouble crushing a high arc pitch too. I quoted this kid to the online softball community and some guys wanted to defend it as more difficult than the kid summed it up to be. It is.... but it isn't.
I have my bad days too.

I'm afraid of the ball
Brent isn't exactly your athletic type. I'll be the one teaching Brandon how to play sports. Brent enjoys watching instead.

I'm afraid of the ball too!
And I'm not exactly athletic either. -doesn't stop me does it? I'll stop bugging you now. I didn't mean for you to reveal one of your deepest fears.
