So my sisters cat came home tonight, and he couldn't walk, and he seems to have a large cut on his leg. she thinks he was attacked by a dog or something like that. he keeps trying to get into small areas where he can hide. I have heard that when animals do this they might be looking for a place to die in peace. She wanted to know. Is this a very common thing?? Please help!!

He is obviously injured and needs medical attention ASAP! It doesn't necessarily mean he's seeking a spot to "die" in....cats do this when they are frightened, scared and or injured. I'm sure with the proper medical attention he'll be okay. But please don't delay!

He's scared and bound to be in pain but it doesn't mean that he's looking for a place to die. Regardless, he needs to be seen by a vet asap.

Let us know what happens but please get him to a vet.

Your cat was probably in a major fight, tis the season. Fighting cat bites can be dangerous and your cat needs antibotics NOW and a vet visit YESTERDAY. Get the cat to the vet immediately please. Or you might lose him.

I'm not one to advise using money you don't have, but if you are getting cash in later today, get to the VET NOW... write a check, use a credit card, ask the vet if you can make small payments, etc. But don't just assume, he's 'doing better'. Also DO NOT ALLOW HIM OUTSIDE while he is still hurting. Other animals can sense his weakness and may prey on him.

I'd probably want the vet to look at the lump. If it is an abscess, it should probably be drained and he may need antibiotics.

Yes it would be a good idea to take both cats in. Get the injured one checked out today, and get the lump looked into today as well if possible.
It never hurts to catch something sooner then later, often saves you more money and heartache in the long run.
