Is it the kittens

We recently got two kittens who are now 12 weeks old,one male one female, a few days after getting them my eyes where alittle sore,i didnt think much of it to start but over the weeks they have got worse feels like grit in them. We have always had cats and still have a adult cat and ive never had this problem before, so i looked at other things that might be causing it,cat litter maybe, no i'm on the 3rd different type of cat litter. Could it be the kittens?

Could the kittens perhaps have something in their fur (some type of dust maybe) that's getting in the air and to your eyes?
