Kitten with Pink Eye???

Hi everyone...we have a question about our kitten,he is 5 1/2 weeks old and his right eye seems to be pink and slightly swollen shut with a small amount of clear discharge.Could this be pink eye?If so what can we do for him,he is acting normally but with the eye being swollen shut it makes him look sad.Any advice is appreciated....

I would take him to the vet...sounds like he may need a vet perscribed treatment.

Katkisses:Yes our cats do have URI,we are worried about the baby because of this,his eye has been like this since last night.I don't know what this is from but I do know that I am completely stressed out from all of this..I just can't wait until this is all over....THANKS FOR THE ADVICE

THANKS...we can't wait either! This is just sooo horrible,ours cats have NEVER been sick! We have had most of them for years and this is the first time any of them were sick at all....

Yes your baby can have Conjunctivitis. Since you have a house full of sick babies and his imune system is already low I would have the eye checked by your VET!!

We have an appt. with the vet tomorrow...but we have one more question,if the kitten does have pink eye can it be contagious to us????

Well we went to the vet and it is pink eye,he has it because he has also contracted the URI The vet prescribed us Vetropolycin HC for his eye and as amazing as it sounds his eye is already looking better,she aslo did a Fluorescein Stain test to see if there was damage to the cornea but thankfully there isn't any...thanks for the advice everyone!


Now I just can't wait until the URI goes away...

I wish someone did this for rocky when he was a kitten. His eyes are so messed up from ulcers when he was a kitten. Good for you.

Everyone is doing ALOT better,only thing they seem to be still doing is sneezing.We just cannot wait until this is all over and we can look back at it.Thnaks alot for the support,it's nice to know someone cares!
