Keaira kitty has been with me for one year now. She was a shelter cat I adopted....or rather, she adopted me. When I stopped in the shelter one day to peek at the 25 or so cats and kittens, Keaira just wouldn't leave me alone. She followed and pestered me, going so far as to push her way past other cats I was looking at to continue getting my attention. She truly "picked" me.
I really wasn't planning to go home with a cat that day. I thought it might be a healing step just to visit other cats after loosing my Dickens kitty only a couple months earlier. Dickens was nearly 19 years old when I had to put her down. Sadly, she had became very ill with renal failure. She had been a wonderful devoted pet. I missed her a great deal.
But Keaira kitty is a joy too. She made herself right at home the very moment we walked in the house as if it had always been her home. She's full of intelligence, curiosity and playfulness. She is a very small tabby. Only about 5 pounds. I'm not sure how old she is, but her energy level suggests she's still a young adult.
Some of her favorite things are singing in the bathtub. No water in the tub of course, but the acoustics, I finally realized, make her voice echo to her delight. She also invents various games with her toys involving the floor fan. These games take a great deal of her concentration and have rules! Fun to watch her!
What a fun site this is reading about all the other wonderful feline pets!--Lynn
