I would imagine yes for the answer. I do know that when another male lion takes over a pride and drives off or kills the resident male(s), they will go around and kill any of the cubs and that induces the females to come into heat so the new male can get them pregnant.
So it probably works the same way - the resident male wants as many offspring as he can produce. And that would mean to mate with females EVERY time they came into heat.
But females may not come into heat as fast or often as domestic cats do.
