Today while walking through the woods I found a little kitten. He was hiding under some brush crying, huddled next to a dead sibling. He looks to be a good size and healthy. The mother cat I think is out there, but I can't even get remotely close to her. She does not look in good shape. I got the kitten checked out and he had his shots and got dewormed. They say is 8 weeks old which is the same age as my other kittens. My momma cat seems to have taken to him and he's doing great. I named him Seamus. I'm gonna try and get the mom any suggestions on how I should do that? And is there anything special I should do for this little guy?

Awww, he is cute. I would contact a local rescue of the city you live in and get a humane trap. That would probably be the quickest way

Do you have a humane trap?? The best way to trap the mom is to set up a humane trap with food in it. You can usually borrow a humane trap from your local humane society or shelter. If you need information on TNR, you can go here:

Thanks. I do not have a humane trap, but I will try to borrow one. I really hope the Momma is okay. The only glimpse I got of her she didn't look to good. She was real thin and kinda scraggily looking. I'm pretty amazed the kitten is so healthy, but I'm extremely glad I found him in time. I think my neighbors cat is the father, I mentioned going to the humane society to get a low cost spay fro my Momma cat and my neighbor wants to go with me so she can get all her cats done.
I'm so glad that she is doing that. I don't want to find anymore kittens in my woods.

The mom may look scraglgey because she is trying to feed kittens on very little food. Be careful if you do trap her that you don't let her around your other cats until she has been checked by a vet. That is very kind of you to try and take care of her.

Actually the cat in the picture with my new little guy is my sister's cat Mika. My mother cat Phoebe looks nothing like that. Oddly enough, Mika, who dislikes all the other kittens in the house, kinda likes this little guy. She'll actually touch him, which is a minor miracle, and right now she is the only cat that he is not hissing at. For the first four hours he loved everyone and they loved him, now he's not getting along with anybody. I've put some vanilla on everyone and I'm hoping it works. They are all tolerating each other at a distance. Some of my kittens don't seem to care one way or the other, but Seamus seems to want some alone time. Hopefully it will all work out itself out soon.

Kinda like being the new kid in school...at first you are relieved that they except you, and then you are overloaded by the new environment and all the new people. It takes a while but they usually adjust.

I really hope so. This little guy is such a blessing. I've been so sad today because the first one of my kittens is going to her new home tomorrow.
