It looks like the gray one is the runt. As long as she is nursing and gaining weight, she should be fine. Have you weighed them yet? That is a great way to tell if she is getting enough to eat.

She not the runt, she is the 2nd born, her black and white sister is the runt. Yes I have wieghed them, the sister is 6.2 OZ, her brother is 6.8 OZ, and the silver one is 3.0 OZ. With the strength she has, I am not too concern but I do wonder if she will make it or not. She is a week old so we will see; I sure hopes she makes it, I want to keep her.

She is nursing but not as much as her brother and sister. The vet told me to seperate the brother and sister from the silver kitten so she can have a chance to nurse every two hours. I am trying my best to make sure she is nursing. lol
Also she was born feet first, does that mean anything when a kitten is born feet first? Like a health problem or something?

an ice cube in Iowa...
Nope, it just means she was a breech birth, which is fairly common in any mammal. For a week-old kitten, I must admit that 3.0 oz. is very small...the average newly born kitten is between 3.0-3.4 oz. However, I would encourage her to take extra turns at the nipple, so that she can gain weight. This does not mean she's necessarily in any danger of not making it...I would most definitely label this little silver/gray girl the runt, and not her 2nd born. Birth order really has nothing to do with it. Being the one that is underweight and nursing less, that alone makes her the runt, I'd say. But, like I said before, as long as she's eating and given some extra TLC by momma cat, her chances are really good...if she can make it to week 3 or 4, her chances are extra great. Keep your eye on her!

wasn't she 3.2 oz or 3.4 oz at birth? the loss of weight would concern me and I say you have to keep forcing the KMR with a syringe so she is getting the extra nutrients. She must not be getting enough nursing even though you are making sure she has extra time nursing............. JMO

yep ur right she was 3.2 to be exact, i looked up my weight chart of theirs, she has dropped .2 oz since then. I don't wnt to force the syringe on her, like her momma, she is smart and hates it when I go to get her for her feeding. I am not sure if I should force her to eat or not, and if I should force her to suck from a syringe, how should I do it?
