I have a 7 week old kitten that I got from my mom. The momma kitty just turned a year the first week in May. First litter and she had 6 kittens. We have tried giving her the same food my mom was feeding the kittens and she wouldnt eat it. We also tried a different brand of dry food and still she wouldnt eat it. So then we started giving her can food and she did eat that. Then gradually started giving her a little dry food in with the wet food. She kinda sorts through and eats only the wet food when we mix it up. The last couple of days she will eat then a few minutes later she will throw it up. She only threw up maybe 1 time each time she ate for the first few days and it wasn't very much at all. A few times it looked as though it was just a white liquid. Then a few minutes ago I fed her the wet mixed with dry cat food and she has thrown up at least 5 times in the last hour. Just a little each time and it always looked liquidy with a little bit of wet food. She gets really excited when we are eating or when we try to feed her like she has never been fed. She will attack our hands and swat at our fingers and eat the food we hand her practically w/o swallowing. Then a few minutes later she throws up again. She always eats really fast and I thought maybe that had something to do with it. What are the chances she has something wrong bc her mom was pretty young? The other 5 kittens seem to be just fine. Thanks

Welcome to TCS. Ok...I have a cat who is the same way....she will eat her food incredibly fast and if the kibble is not a small size, she will throw it up. I had to go through a few brands before I found both a wet food and dry kibble that she did not throw up.

I would suggest you take your little one to the vet....she probably needs to receive a wormer and start on her distemper shots.

As a seperate note....I don't know if your mom plans to have her cat spayed, but this cat should be kept strictly indoors only and away from intact males until she has been spayed. Cats can become pregnant again as early as a week after giving birth and we would encourage this to be her only litter. Also, it is better for the kittens to leave mom when they are around 10-12 weeks of age.

If your mom needs a low cost clinic, simply send me a PM or post here and I will provide you a list of low cost clinics.

Katie
