the kittens are 7 weeks old now and i was going to give Habuski to my sister in 2 or 3 weeks but is Kitty going to be stressed out when she realizes that she's gone?

Jessie..is there any reason why you can't keep Habuski with mom for another few weeks?? Again, it is often best to have the kittens go to their new homes between 10-12 weeks. That way, they should have received their first distemper shot.

She did say 2-3 weeks which would make the kitten 9 or 10 weeks old. I would wait until closer to 12 weeks, but if anything, 10 at the minimum.

if you guys highly reccomend it i'll keep her until 12 weeks but my sister LOVES Habusaki and cant wait to have her. she thought that they could go to new homes at 8 weeks and she was so excited so 10 weeks is pushing it. lol.

also my sister lives a 3 hour drive from me. is that going to mess the kitten up? is it ok if when i visit her i take Buddha and Kitty? (i assume it will be just want to make sure).

I agree 12 weeks is better than 8 weeks to give away the kittens. Also I think it is a good idea to have your kitten be accompied with Bubba, it will help her stay calm and relax durring the 3 hour ride.

Yes, I'd wait until at least the 10 week mark, minimum. Maybe you could make a little weekly scrap book of photos for your sister, to document the next few weeks. You could include photos, favorite toys, remnants of a favorite blankie, things like that. This way, maybe she won't feel that she's missing on her baby's milestones. Just an idea.

Oh, and to answer your initial question, I don't believe Momma will miss her terribly, not like a human mother would...she will most definitely notice that her kitten is gone. Trust me, over the next few weeks, Momma will be more than ready for kitten to become independent!
