This morning hubby and I were sitting on our back porch having our breakfast and coffee. The biggest bear I have ever seen crossed the field back of our house. He was in the bean field twice and finally went in the woods. I was surprised to see him there since there is no corn or wheat. I hope he stays in the field and not in my yard. He was huge.

Wow, I would have been freaking out!!! I'm glad there are no bears near here! I love them but having dogs it's kind of scary!

Yes, bears are seen very frequently here this time of year. There are crops in the fields. Bears love to eat wheat. When the corn tassels up, they get in the corn fields. I didn't know it until we saw this bear, but he is eating soybeans. We have seen many bears, but this one right behind our house is the biggest we have seen and he is somebody's granddaddy, probably 600 to 800 lbs.

We normally never have bears in southeast MN, but in the last few days there have been several sightings of a 300 to 400 pound black bear in the general Rochester area. The bear has been seen in several different towns including Rochester, and seems to be traveling between 20 and 25 miles each day. I wish they would hurry up and trap him!!!

there was a news story last night that black bears have been seen around this area too
! there was one even spotted in Gates Mills, which, as you might be able to tell by the name, is the ritziest neighborhood around. Guess bears want to live the good life too

So far the bear has been sighted in Rochester, Roscoe and Zumbrota. I was watching KTTC this morning and they said now the bear has traveled to Mazeppa.

Be careful!

Okay that's really freaky and I am looking at your locale and see NC. Which is where I am currently....so I'm curious as to where in NC are you.......cause one time when I was a teenager (and this is sounding like a band camp montague) I swore I saw a bear in near one of the creeks where I used to live.

Course that being said, I'm heading up (packign....and all that) moving up to the Shenandoah's and there are def black bears there.
