I make cat toys and sell them. I had some one ask if I would consider making toys with Valerian Root in them. I bought some to see what it was like and my two cats have no reaction to it at all.
Has any one heard of this and what kind of affect is it supposes to have? It is not that I would mind making a new kind of toy but would like to know the pros and cons first.

Valerian root has the same effect as catnip; as with the latter, some cats simply don't react to it. I've found that Jamie reacts more to valerian than to catnip, so it probably varies from cat to cat.

What is the reaction the cat has with this root?

I know my 2 cats act differently to catnip: One rolls all over it and gets goofy and the other just likes to eat it.

They both do the something with Honeysuckle: they both rub and cuddle with it.

That's what you can expect with valerian root.
