We just got our first kitten 2 days ago, he's 8 weeks old. One of his favorite places to be is under our loveseat- which is a combination of 2 rocker-recliners. The whole thing rocks whenever you sit down, and there's a bunch of metal under there from the recliner part- the kitty could really get smashed if someone sits on there and rocks while he's under there!

Is there a way to teach him not to go under there?

CAts love to get into small spaces....Is there anything that you can tape around the bottom of loveseat so he cant' find a way to get under it? (That's not an ideal solution I know...so perhaps others have suggestions that are better).

One possibility is to get those chair mats from an office store, the one with the spikes. Put it under the loveseat with the spikes up. Also, maybe put something that blocks you from sitting down and reminds you to check underneath.

I hav e four of those darned things. We count cats before sitting down or getting up.
Mine are eight months old now, and have stopped running under there, though. As soon as your little guys gets a bit older and more secure he might choose other spaces, especially if you get him some nice hidey-hole type beds.

I agree, definitely place something on your loveseat that keeps you from sitting down, especially if you get a lot of visitors at your home. Since your loveseat is so dangerous to your kitten, I was wondering if it's possible for you to replace it with something safer? I found some great prices on futons for you.
