Okay.. I got my lil kitties about 2 weeks ago, and they're awesome. They're full of personality and they're gentle and loving in every way, except toward each other.. anyway, that's the LEAST of my worries. My lil white cat, Lucifer, is turning out to be a real DEVIL when it comes to litterbox habits. He has never messed outside the box, even puked in the box (which surprised me).. but every time he poos, no matter what, he steps in it with one or both of his back paws. Every time he comes out of the litter box, he's shaking his back paws and spraying poo everywhere
On the walls, on my legs, on his poor little brother. It seems as if he knows it's wrong, but he can't stop doing it. It's frustrating me to no end. So now, every time he poos, I clean the litter box out, and have to immediately wipe him down and even bathe him most of the time (which he HATES and in turn uses my arm as his scratching post)... So, anyway.. WHAT CAN I DO?! omg it's driving me nuts, and he doesn't seem to like it much either. And I definately don't like seeing lil poopy paw prints everywhere when I get home... ANY advice would help. thanks!

I already upsized from the first little box they had, and it's a pretty BIG box. We wanted one they could have for a while. As for the poo, it seems pretty firm until he steps in it. It seems pretty normal to me. My girlfriend was suggesting that feeding them more dry food as opposed to wet food twice a day might make the poo more durable and not so easily squished between lil kitty toes?

I was just thinking... Little fecophiliac Lucifer has a really BAD lazy eye... could that have anything to do with him accidentally squarshing his own poo? And, is the lazy eye something I should be concerned with? I definately gives him character though when he tries looking at me and his left eye just starts drifting.. it's adorable.. just hope it's not a problem.

Take him to the vet and get him de-wormed. he probably has worms and that is why he has loose stool and gets it all over the place. a normal cat bowel movement should not be able to be "sprayed all over the place" If you have already done this then consider changing his food becasue somethiink is not agreeing with him if he doesnt have worms.

This is a common kitten problem. Lilly did it, and our new addition, Leo, is doing it. He is being treated for coccidia, which has caused loose stool & made the poopy paw problem worse. My vet told me most kittens will grow out of it- thank goodness!

The only mention of ""spraying all over the place" was from the cat shaking his foot. No diarrhea or loose stools.
