Lately there has been a large black cat wandering my area. We grabbed him a few days ago, thinking that maybe he is the daddy to Twitch's kittens. No such luck, the gent is neutered.

He has a fairly bad eye infection, but no tags. We cleaned him up, and posted some signs. For the moment he is sleeping in here, where it is warm and safe.

He is really an outdoor cat, as he has been in and out all day, since we got him.
He meows so pitifully at the door, after sleeping and cuddling, but as he is neutered, I saw no problem letting him back out. He keeps coming back here, every hour or so...so I don't think he has a home... What does everyone think?

He sounds like he could be a stray.

Oh, I think he HAS a home. Either the old one if the old owner phones. Or the new one where he already is.

hee hee...we are definetely in love... I will take some pics tonight, if no one has called by then. My boyfriend says if there is nothing by then end of next week, then we will take him to the vet, and he's ours.

He and Twitch seem to get along fine... he found the kittens, and she tried to make him lay with them, it was cute. She treats him like a kitten although he is twice her size.

I would like to add a warning. The eye infection could be a sign of a serious health issue.I would be carefull and NOT let him around your own cats as you don't want them to catch something if he is ill.

The eye infection has cleared up.
It was a scratch near his eye. The vet gave some drops, and it cleared up almost instantly. We also found out that he is about 11 months old, a little before a year at least. No chip or anything, so just waiting for owners....

So. No calls yet... and he is still here with us, going out for large parts of the day, and sitting at the door when he feels like coming in. Something tells me this kitty is here to stay...

I don't have any pics as of yet....I will be taking some soon, I hope...just working out an issue with my camera software.

I will keep you updated on Chesire (yes, the name stuck)

Thats a really good idea, might try that.

Yes, we certainly have fallen in love with our little wordly traveller.

His eye looks great, now. No puss and it isn't swollen. He is so gorgeous, long and lean, with such a nice stong neck... looks very manly. Hopefully I can post some photos soon

If anyone is in the Oshawa area of Ontario ( Yay Canadians ), and know about a missing kitty, please let me know. Or not...hehe.

He is already neutered, Katie!! Thats why we are so shocked that no owners are desperately searching for him! We already paid for vet care for him, due to his eye infection. He is the sweetest guy.

With all the strays in my area, we definetely don't plan on adding to the population. Twitch's little ones are only two and a half weeks old, and we are planning spays/neuters for the future, getting funds together.

Can you tell me when a good time to spay and neuter kittens, and momma is?

I know it is after they are weaned, but is there an exact time?

It depends on your vet, but these days some vets are spay/neutering at 2 pounds. They really seem to get over it very quickly at that age.
