Drs. Foser and Smith is the best I have found.

Seriously, though........I perfer people move up the ladder gradually and go one grade up one step at the time, because jumping from cheap food to really expensive food is definitely a shock to the system.

I was feeding my foster kitten Chicken Soup for the Kitten Lovers Soul, but since I have to drive so far to get it, and she is still here
, I am switching her to something from Walmart called Maxximum Nutrition Kitten Formula. I didn't like the ingredients in the Adult Formula, but the Kitten looked okay to me, especially compared to Kitten Chow. The first few ingredients, in order are: Chicken, chicken meal, brewers rice, fish meal corn gluten meal, animal fat, corn meal, dried egg product, dried beet pulp,...and it has: Crude Protien (min) 36%, Crude Fat (min)22%, Crude Fiber(min) 2.5%, Moisture (max)12% and Taurine (min) .17% and I give her about 1/4 of a can of Natural Life canned cat food each day. I hope this helps ,and while I'm at it, has anyone else fed Maxximum Kitten?

I feed my kitten premium edge kitten formula. The ingedient list is really great and most feed stores or smaller pet stores carry it. You probably wont be able to find it in any grocery stores or pet stores like pets mart, but it has more natural ingredients and I can tell a difference in the way my cat looks. I used to feed purina kitten chow but since getting on here, it really opened my eyes to all the nasty ingredients in most grocery store brand foods. Well good luck!

Eukanuba is overpriced for what you get, in my opinion. I'd go for nutro natural, chicken soup, or authority (petsmart brand) if you're concerned about price. Premium edge is cheap too if you can find a pet store that carries it in your area.

I got Chicken Soup for the Kitten Lovers Soul at Pet Supplies Plus. It is just a catfood, named after the popular books
I did the same thing when I first read the name-"Huh?"

I forgot to mention, my adult cats eat Felidae Chicken and Rice (no fish-allergy
), and my dog eats the Canidae (made by the same company) and I am VERY happy with how their coats look over the food they were on a month or so ago (including the dog being on Chicken Soup for the Dog...). I think they really just needed more oils in their diets, and the Science Diet the cats were on is really not any better than most of the catfoods out there, from what I've read and learned. And that is something that alot of people here and on my Boxer dog forum seem to agree on.

Eukanuba is considered yucky... but all of the people who show dogs, that is what most of them feed. A good deal of poodle breeders around here recommend it because it keeps their dog's coats nice and shiny and bright... so I am inbetween on it.

what makes catfood bad? What should we look for on the Guaranteed Analysis & Ingredients?

My cats always ate friskies canned. Some eat Purina 1 Special Care & others eat Whiskas Meaty Selections. They had D/F all day but mostly eat while we are at work. They get W/F morning (6am) & then 4-5pm. We give each a heaping teaspoon or so.

I live in a horribly small town and when it comes to food choices, I have walmart brands or Science Diet.

We feed Polly Science Diet Natural (fish formula) It seems to have less fillers and a more "whole food" based ingridient list. The little kitten we just picked up, is on what Polly had her first year, science diet Kitten.

Is this ok? There is nogthing else around? Now I am worried that we are not feeding them good food!!!
