Yesterday I had an appt with a neurologist about my back (injured back on April 25th when I drove my van into a deep ditch). He said signs are good - no shooting pains, numbness or weakness in my legs - and that I am just healing. I mentioned the acupuncture and massage a friend had done for me and told me to continue that therapy. It that fails to alleviate the pain, then he will send me to IU (around here that stands for Indiana University) for pain management. (Give it a couple of months.)

A CAT scan would show for sure any injury to the spine, but the local ones are not large enough to handle me. (Though according to the scales I have been on, I've lost 60 pounds since the accident!!! Pain has a way of killing your appetite.)

I had an accupuncture treatment last night and the back just feels achy - no sharp pains. Next treatment will be at the end of the month when my friend returns from Mexico. I still have problems sitting up for a while though am up to an hour at times.

The van is still needing repairs as soon as the body shop gets the parts. Seems some parts are getting hard to find for my 1990 Ford Econoline van.

I sooooo miss being able to be on longer with my TCS buds!

That is so awful that you are experiencing all of this..I think sometimes we take our healthy nimble bodies for granted, we don't realize how easily something can happen to take that away from us.

I really hope you continue to improve as I'm sure this has been taxing on you.

Is there a Chinatown near where you live? I think a traditional Chinese accupuncture would be better and much, much cheaper.

Good vibes is coming your way!!!

Glad to hear there's progress continuing and that the outlook is good. It's a real drag getting there, though, isn't it!! Please take care of you. It's good to have you back, Jan.

I'm glad to hear that there's no serious damage, not that dealing with pain is something to take lightly. I hope Aristotle and Topaz are giving you lots of lovin' to make you feel better.

No, no Chinatown in this area, but my friend did study with a Chinese teacher. As for cost, he finally accepted some cash to pay for his gas. He barters a lot with his clients, especially when in Mexico (where he was born).

And thanks for the vibes!

Good to read that your are on the mend. The 60# loss I would think would help in alevating back pain too. Take it easy and good luck getting the van fixed.

I'm very glad that your back seems to be healing!
How difficult to be so limited in your activities...and for such a long time! However, you have come a long way since April 25th! I'm glad you have a friend who can help with massages and accupuncture!

Glad to have you back Jan and good news that there is no serious injury to your spine/back.

It's good that you lost the weight even though that wasn't what you set out to do.
Healing wishes coming your way. (Bijou wants you to give Topaz a hug for him.)

The back is hurting less - though it may be that I'm feeling my cramps more.
At least I am able to sit up and eat my meals and I've started feeding the cats again.
