Hissy, I appreciated your responses so thought I'd let you know about her vet visit this morning

I took Mandy to the vet this morning just to check since I;ve been so concerned about her.

On exam vet said she was perhaps a little dehydrated but not anything significant. She checked her over quite well, I thought. Palpated abdomen to make sure no urine retention. Looked at her eyes, ears, etc. Temp normal.

She did suggest FeLV & FIV test since these were NOT done at 6 months. She didn't expect anything and they were negative.

She suggested I measure water put in her bowls so that when I refill I can figure out just how much she has taken. (I've just been guessing). Since Mandy won't eat wet food the vet suggested I spray some of her dry food & sprinkle on a few grains of salt to increase thirst.

This morning I took a small portion of her regular dry food & soaked it in coouple ounces of warm water. She ate this in preference to her dry food so that was encouraging.

Vet said as long as she is eating normally she wouldn't be very concerned; perhaps she just has a less than normal fluid requirement.

If appetite changes she suggests we get CBC & BCP (I suppose that is Basic Cat Panel), urinalysis & abdominal X-Ray. Since this will run near $200 I think I'll continue observation for couple more days. Of course if she shows appetite changes I shall right away get these test down.

She was the Bestest Ever Behaved kitty for her visit. Seemed calm & unafraid, interrested in her surrounding. When we got home she was so happy it was over that she gave me many more head butts than usual for the first 1/2 hr.

Thanks again. Keeping my eyes open & fingers crossed.

How cuuuute! Thanks for posting an update. .. I always wonder how things go. You're doing a super job being an observant mama to Mandy.

PS I have one kitty that is always on Bestest Ever Behavior at the vet. . .and then another kitty that is always on Worsted Ever Behavior

Doesn't it make you feel good when kitty is well behaved.

I've never had children but imagine it must be similar to the feeling when one's children are well behaved.

Thanks for your interest. I'm still waiting to see her drink someting. She's in napping on the floor at the foot of my bed with her head under the dust ruffle. I always imagine she thinks no one can see her then.

It is hard to do armchair diagnosis over the internet and I can only draw on my own experience with cats and go from there. I will always suggest when a cat seems "off" to have the cat vet-checked because that is the most important thing to do.

I am glad she was given the all-clear from the vet. Good job!
