It's quite possible, but my brother made a conscious decision that, for him, a life without pets was unquestionable. His death was "accidental", in that a new tenant with three Persians had moved into the apartment next door just the week before he died, and the central heating system (forced hot air, which carried the allergans) delivered his "death sentence". My mom also has severe asthma attacks, but there's no way she'll give up pets (currently 3 dogs [two huge Labs and a Benji-type terrier mutt] and a cat). I'm allergic to cats, and have trouble with multiple dogs, but it's a good trade-off for me: I might suffer a fatal asthma attack, but a life without pets would be far, far, far worse.

One of my worst nightmares is growing old and ending up in a nursing home where I wouldn't be able to have a cat.|

I've already had my rant in the Cat Lounge, but just wanted to add here that the while thing is disgusting. My main gripe is that they don't mention anything about breed traits, colours or personalities. Is it a "breed" or are they various breeds that are bred to be hypo-allergenic.
The fact that they don't talk about the cats themselves screams KITTEN MILL to me. |
