IMO there are better quality foods that provide more in the way of proper oils, so that is certainly something to think about. Is she eating wet or dry food? I find wet to be better in this regard.

But yes, it is seasonal. Here in the northern hemisphere the longest day of the year is less than three weeks away (shedding is triggered by hours of light per day) so it is right at its worst now. Keep combing, keep vacuuming, and think about a better food.

what are you using to brusher her - some brushes are better than others.

My Loki is a short hair. He and I love the Zoom Groom - absolultely the best $7 investment I made...

If you see the other posts a lot of people are going crazy because of the shedding issues this year - the weather is going crazy and they are reacting to it.

So unless you suspect any other medical issues - good brushing to us all

My cat shed more this year than she did last year. She has very long fur. The shedding started in March, and even though I combed her daily she threw up hairballs at least once a day for several weeks. During this time she also lost lots of weight.

In late April I took her to the vet. She had lost 2.2 lbs from the previous year and she looks like a skinny little rat. She weifhed 6.6 at the vets.

The shedding and throwing up hairballs finally stopped a couple of weeks ago, and I think she is now putting on some weight.

During the worst of the shedding I tried Petromalt, but she wouldn't eat it. I tried putting it on her paw, but she shook it off.

I've got one of those brushes too, but I don't think they do as good a job as the slicker brush and a comb. It seems that the cat hair is just exploding around us this year.

I have to laugh when I see the hair flying all around.
All I can think of is PigPen in the Charlie Brown comics.
