i've notice that since about 1 week ago Nana my 1 yr old domestic short hair is shedding entensively...if i run my hand thru her coat..i could actually see a lot of hair fall off.
other than this she seems perfectly normal and healthy.

i adopted her in nov so this is the first summer we go thru....i wanna know if the shedding is only due to the weather or if it's a health issue.

thx in advance for answering.

I think it is seasonal. My two have been shedding A LOT the past two months. I have to brush them (even the short-haired one) every night and I get gobs of fur off of them.

Keep brushing as much a you can and if you don't have one already - get yourself a zoom groom - the best investment you'll ever make.

If you are in the USA then you are in the northern hemisphere and summer solstice is just over a week away. That's the longest day of the year and since shedding is photoperiodic (determined by amount of daylight) you can see why shedding is particularly bad right now.

(((science lesson over)))
