Trying to suckle from our thighs at night... (I know, strange...)

Ziggy is about 9 or 10 months old now, and he still keeps us up at night by crawling under the covers and trying to find nipples to nurse on. We have been forgiving because he was weaned early and he seems to have abandonment fears, but he's older now and his scratchy tongue and wet nose wake us up every night. I think we're going to have to close him in a bathroom or something at night (we don't have a door to our bedroom, it's a loft). I think this is cruel and I am trying to convince my husband to try and find another way... like wearing pants to bed. Does anyone else have any ideas?

lol nana is 14 months old now and she still does that..she usually comes to us early in the morning...find her favorite spot..(usually my arm) and starts licking and doing this "stepping motion" with her hand...i suppose that's how they nurse? ..me and my bf keep saying that she's giving us massage...
it doens't really bother us much tho....we rather enjoy it....just that we have to trim her nails regularly or it'll start to hurt...=P

My Rambo does the exact same thing. The only way i managed to get a good nights sleep is by redirecting the behaviour. Rambo would always try to suck on my shirt and knead, so i start putting a second shirt (the smellier the better) between me and him and them moved that shirt over to the other side of the bed, or onto a pillow etc. Rambo would then go and knead and suckle on that shirt and i could get back to sleep. I would even consider getting a stuffed animal and putting my shirt on it for him.

You could make him a surrogate nipple... kind of like a hamster water device only with a kitten nipple on it- upside down bottle of sorts with some water in it. Go to bed early and when he comes to "nurse" redirect him to the surrogate which you can hang off a dresser or something in your bedroom. Once he has something to comfort him he should be ok. It's worth a try, no?

Bert suckled on Ernie (and tried to on my face) until not too long ago. He'll be 2 years old in a few days. Ernie won't let him anymore so he's kinda stopped. So, he's turned his suckling into licking my nose non-stop when I'm laying down.

On another note about suckling:
Once a client came into my work and told me and a co-worker that she sleeps naked at night and that her kitten will get in bed and suckle on her nipple at night!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! First of all, wayyyyyyy to much info!!! Second of all, gross!!!!! Now I love my kitties like my children and I love to hand raise orphaned neonates, but I would never let a cat do that!!!! Needless to say, we still joke about that story at work sometimes. You should have seen us trying to act normal when this lady was telling us that!!!

So....trying to suckle on a thigh...not that bad...lol

I just wanted to write and hope u find a solution to sweet Ziggy's Suckling!!!!

I have to say, reading your post and other posts here I couldn't help but smile...I just think it is so cute...(Except for the lady and her cat...Not my thing)

What beautiful creatures...I hope everything works out, and when you find something that does work please let us know what it is...

Thanks, guys! I think my husband is just going to wear pants at night. He usually crawls up my nightgown and suckles me as a second resort.
I think it's sweet, too... I don't really want him to stop. Sometimes his tongue gets scratchy and it hurts on my sensitive skin, but as long as he keeps it on my lower thighs, I'm good. I'm sure he'll grow out of it.

Ziggy's such a sweetie... he's a rambunctious (sp?) little boy, but he turns into a complete lover sometimes. He also will come up and just plop himself down on our laps as we watch TV, other times he's so wound up he can't be calmed.
He trills and coos a lot, too... he can't stand doors being shut, and he will meow and meow until we open it. He sounds like he's asking a question... it's so cute! "Meeooooowwww???? Meeeeooooooowww????" "Please let me in??"
I think he knows that tone melts our hearts!
