Liberty is eating paper!

Envelopes, newspapers, bills and many other things have been her victim. Why is she doing this? What can I do to stop her? It seem to be a chewing thing more then anything. She has plenty of chew toys but maybe she needs something different? -kd

Do you mean that she's actually eating it or is she just shredding it?

Molly and Willow love to shred paper, it's more a case of playing and entertainment! There are many kitties on TCS who enjoy shredding both paper and cardboard!

That's just her way of asking for a play session!

Actually eating small amounts. Chewing on stuff I know is normal in a 4-paw declawed cat (I DID NOT declaw her). I am worried it means she is not getting something in her diet . -kd

I also asked if it was a dietary issue. My Vet said it just a bad habit.

If she's eating small amounts, I wouldn't worry too much - Molly and Willow will generally eat a couple of pieces in each session!

I'm sure she just enjoys the recreational activity of it!

If you are still concerned, you could always give your vet a call and see what they say!

My Antigone likes to shred paper too- kinda of annoying when its an important paper

Ginger likes to chew up bits of toilet paper - I'm glad she isn't going after my bills!

yep, I just found a map of washington DC with its edges shredded. i have to tell my husband not toleave out important papers out (like the deed to our house) because Abi loves to chomp on the corners and rip pieces off.
