(recap) i thought Kitty was preg. because she got out while in heat and came back a day later and was out of heat (even though she had only been in heat for 2 days.) she went into heat a few days ago and i was told that a cat going into heat means she is not pregnant so i assumed she wasnt.

are you absolutly positive that when a cat goes into heat it means she isnt pregnant? Kitty has been in heat for a few days (its dying down a little) and she hasnt been outside on her own since the day she spent the night outside.

The thing i'm wondering is that she is a very tiny cat so if she puts on weight you can tell and she has put on some weight. she feels and looks heavier. she has been eating alot and sleeping alot and lounging around alot (when she isnt rubbing on feet). she started eating alot AFTER she started putting on weight. in other words she is acting as if she is pregnant. is this possible or am i just paranoid? could it be a false pregnancy?

its fine. she got out on the 20-21 of may. she is definetly in heat because of the way she is acting and meowing and doing the butt up in the air thing (dont know what to call it) so she is DEFINETLY in heat but when she is not busy rubbing herself on everything she is sleeping or eating or sleeping some more.

i've heard sometimes a cat can be pregnant and about 2-3 weeks into it be in "heat" but I'm not sure if its because the first mating didn't take or it was a false...I don't have experience in that area tho. She has kittens or are they weaned? I was wondering if they are starting to eat on own and now shes keeping more calories. I'd take her to vet and see what they have to say and get a spay appt. RJ

sounds like heat to me,lol. when icis got out her first time, she was in heat, but didnt mate, because 3 weeks later she went into heat again. the second time tho, she was DETERMINED to mate, cause she ripped the screen from the window to get out, lol. that was about 4 weeks ago, and since she has put on weight only in the belly, and has porn star nipples, lol

The big question is are you going to take her precious kitty to the vet and get her fixed asap?

her kittens are very close to being weaned. they eat solids but still nurse sometimes so i'll give it another week at most until they are completely weaned. then if she's NOT preg the vet wants to wait another 2 or 3 weeks then spay her but if she is pregnant then i'm not going to have her spayed because that would mean that today she is 2 1/2 weeks preg. and by the time we could get her spayed she would be close to 5 or 6 weeks pregnant and i'm not comfortable with getting her spayed while she's that far along (for her health, not my own morals). so MY big question is can they be in heat and pregnant at the same time?

The only person that can honestly answer that question for you is your vet.

Please don't let her out at all, even if supervised she could get away from you.

Also, I found this info-

Can my cat be pregnant and still be in heat?
Yes. A stray adopted me and gave every appearance of being in heat. Yowling, rubbing, etc. Turns out it should have been impossible because she was already several weeks pregnant when I took her to the vet to be spayed.

hmm. thats interesting. i'll TRY to make an appt. with the vet. i doubt i can though cuz my mom doesnt get paid for a while. and her next paycheck goes to winters heating bill.

and missymotus... i let my cat outside every now and then so she can get some sun and fresh air and if i do she is with me supervised on a harness.

its not the spay i'm worried about its the trip to the vets to see if she's pregnant or not. i looked on some of those sites you have posted on other threads and i think we'll try a clinic in columbia if she's not pregnant.

I'm surprised-you'd have to take cat in to see if pregnant then schedule a spay apt for a later date? Can't you just make appt and bring her in(and therefore only spending on the spay cost) If your letting her have the litter find out how much it will cost for a csec if anything goes wrong due to her just having kittens and also any special stuff she needs to be on to keep up her strength. could they tell me if she is pregnant at the low cost clinic without adding any more cost? i dont want to get all the way up to columbia to find out that she is pregnant and then have to pay something and come home. (do you understand?) we are really broke this month so i am trying to limit the vet visits. i know this isnt what most of you would do but i'm going to try to do what is best for my cat without getting my electricity turned off...

Cats.
My zoe is now in the beginning of the 8th week of her pregnancy.

She's been "Heated" almost during the entire 5-7 weeks of the pregnancy. At one time she got paint on her back and I took a wet towel to clean her up and she totally started kicking her back legs which is a definite heat behavior in some females..

I can tell you that sometimes Kenzo (the father) tries to mount her but the thing is, her body won't "receive" him and you can tell nothing really happens cause it never comes to "The ending" ceremony of the heat which we breeders see as the proof that the mating successes (I can explain more about that if you want..)

Since she's in the 8th week you can tell that she's pregnant but she's been rubbing and miawing almost during the entire second trimester and not because she's in heat but because this is how they usually behave, they just demand extra attention and petting and it's fine. Now that's she's in the last two weeks of the pregnancy she lost that "Heat" behvior in favor of extra petting demand and a lot of sleeping...

If you don't want to vet check her, use your memory as for when she was mated, if it's been 6 weeks since then, this is the stage in which her belly is supposed to show and it doesn't matter how many kittens she's having.

I know the low cost clinic by me has set aside mon-wed ams for seeing possibly preg cats and spays them that day if not to far along(vet i use has a if theres no milk they will spay) I'd give the clinic a call to just see policy and also ask if they know of any other places you could go for cheaper price(or free is some areas) and find out who has what policy on spaying in her state. I know each vet by me has thier own set of rules/prices. RJ

she is out of heat now and just chilling around. i think that as soon as her milk dries up (2-3 weeks) i will tell my mom to set her up an appointment and see if i can barrow some money from my grandparents (or suddenly win the lottery) and have her checked out and see what the vet says. i am so stressed out between learning to drive and Kitty getting out a few weeks ago... i just dont know what to do anymore. can someone please tell me i'm doing fine? i am so stressed...
