I am sending this out, since I found out some very bad news today. Squeeker is a month old kitten my husband rescued from a house fire a few weeks ago, and I have been bottle raising. His paws were burned and his eye has an ulcer on it, probably from a piece of burning ember. Anyway I had him at work with me today, (I am a vet tech) and I have noticed recently that his tail is starting to grow crooked. The vet says that the tip of the tail is dying and that it may have to be amputated.
I just feel awful for the poor little guy, he is only a baby and all this bad stuff has happened to him. I am holding out hope for his eye to heal properly but I am not so sure about the tail. It's bad enough losing your family in a fire, but to loose your tail too-I mean come on. Anyway, he just needs a few good vibes sent his way if anyone has any to spare! Thanks! Squeeker and his NEW family.

He sounds like a fighter, so he should do fine with a tail amputation if it becomes necessary. Seven years ago we found a 2-year-old kitty with a dying tail. We ended up taking him to the vet and having his tail amputated because it was too far gone to save. He's still doing just fine at 9 years of age. He's a friendly cat who even helps raise some of my boyfriend's mom's puppies.

I hope Squeeker's tail heals, but if it doesn't, he can do just fine without it.

Not sure what is going on, but Squeeker is not getting any better-today he is lethargic and will not eat much. I am hoping that he is just having an off day, but I am not so sure-seems like something new pops up everyday! Keep sending those spare good thoughts please.

yes it is unfortunatly necessary for the last 1/3 of his tail to be amputated, so I will probably have it amputated at the time I neuter him. He seems quite a bit better this morning, very playful and chasing after my other 5 kitties, so I am felling better about the situation, I was quite worried last night. His eye seems better and the other thing that has changed is his right ear flops over like a German Shepard, but I think it is adorable! I guess all the good thoughts and vibes are working, so please keep them coming. I will try to send pictures this evening.

Awww, poor baby. This story hits home for me on many levels. Rocky's baby name was squeakers, and he has an eye ulcer. Also my ex-boyfriend had a cat that had to have part of his tail amputated- something happened to it while the cat was outside. Anyway it ended up working out okay.

What a crazy coincidence that is-I am glad everyone turned out okay, I am now hopefull that Squeeker will do the same. I am going to try and take him to an eye specialist soon and I am thinking we will be able to save his eye. Thanks to everyone for all the good thoughts and every day he seems stronger and stronger so keep them coming!

With all the love you are giving Squeeker I'm sure he will be able to overcome anything life gives him!!! He already has the love of a good family to see him through anything. As sad as his past is he has a bright future since he is in good hands. Good thoughts being sent to Squeeker
