Mama finally got into the vet tonight and although she was done having her kittens she was positive for FIV so she was humanely euthanized. Her remaining kitten is in my home, can't be tested for a while yet, so we'll see. Appreciate all the support and advice from here.

My dear ... as someone who shares an active role around my own community in doing what we need to do for needy cats, my heart goes out to you. This is been a totally negative experience for you all the way 'round. I am so sorry.

Let us know how the baby does. Please don't beat yourself up over the babies, you did the best you possibly could and what I think anyone would have done in the situation-- plus more.

Oh, my, how crushingly sad! Perhaps when you are ready, you can put a post about her and the two that didn't make it on the Bridge forum.

I am so sorry this is ending so sadly! If more people would get involved as you did...just one kitty each, we would make a great impact on the excess, unwanted kittens.

I believe euthanizing the Momma was absolutely the best decision. However, even if the kitten is positive, there may be ways to keep it, since it will grow up tame.

Best of luck to the little baby left.
