My uncle wants me to put flea drops on my 6 week old kitten,even though the package says they should be 12 weeks old! What should I do to get rid of them with out the med.?

does she have fleas at the moment?
My vet told me that it was safe to put Advantage on kittens, even though it says otherwise on the package. He said that he had done it many times before, and I asked over and over if he thought it was safe, he reassured that they woudl be fine. Only 1-2 drops per kitten is what he said, I did this, on 2 day old kittens, and it is weeks since I put it on them and they are perfectly fine. I would do it, fleas can suck the blood out of kittens till they are anemic(sp) and die.
On a very young kitten, I'd only use the Dawn too and a good flea comb. I had that problem ONE time - apparently we brought home the fleas from another house on our clothes. For several days I flea combed the young kittens and then treated the house. All the fleas were killed. But I also combed them several times a day too. After a week, no more fleas were ever found.
Please contact your vet. He would be able to give you the safest solution for the kitten.

I do feral cat rescue and the vet we work with always uses Advantage on kittens that have lots of fleas. The kittens always do just fine, been useing it for years. Just be sure to use only one or two drops as Kat Kisses said. It is always a good thing to ask your own vet for advice on these things tho.
