Hi-

Kitties are a little like kids; give 'em an inch and they'll take a mile.

Remember when you play with her, etc you are teaching her acceptable future behaviors. If you don't want her to bite or scratch (or whatever) as an adult (even though it may not hurt now, or a behavior is 'cute'), gently let her know that this is not okay NOW. A firm "No" and putting her away from you (kittie time-out) is usually effective.

If you want her to stay off countertops and tables, again, start teaching her the limits now. I've found that putting something sticky (karo syrup) along the edge will keep a cat from sneaking onto favorite countertops when you're not looking.

If you choose to trim her nails (which I always do with indoor cats) make sure you turn your nail clipper and clip the nail sideways, not from top to bottom - have someone show you - to prevent injury to the claw.

Peope sometimes complain about cat's independent attitudes. But those of us who love them also know the loyal, loving companions that they are. Just love her and she'll love you back!

Hello and welcome to TCS.

There are some really great forums that you can go into on TCS for help, info or conversations. I would suggest the pregnant cat and kitten care forum as well as the behavior forum. Everyone is super friendly and helpful and I can't wait to get to know you and your furbaby better on the other forums soon,

Kallie
