My adult male cat, has been looseing weight. It's hard to pinpoint, but I noticed approx. 3 weeks after I had been to my first cat show. This was also approx. 3 weeks after the first girl here, was in heat.
Do unaltered males tend to loose weight durning kitty breeding season? All the fat pad is gone, and the cat feels bony to me. My vet does not seem overally concerned. The cat appears normal in all other respects. Clear eyes, no sniffles, no dirrhea, eating fine, maybe eating a little less on warmer days, active. Actually more active then when he was looking almost fat.
I'm hoping it's just a homone thing. But worried I dragged something home from the cat show. He has the appearance of "failure to thrive" If anyone has any idea's on testing I could have the vet do, I'd appeciate it. He has lost 30% of his weight. He had been overweight in Jan.

To be honest, yes it's possible for whole males to stay very thin and look very out of shape. However, if it were my male, I would pay the vet to do a chemistry panel just to be sure. There are so many things that can happen and happen very fast, that it's better to have the peace of mind.
