As of June 1st, 67,152 cats and 48,044 were euthanized in 2005 representing 54% of cats and 35% of dogs. 51 shelters in Virginia euthanized between 76%-100% of dogs/cats or both. If you want the full speadsheet that I created to track the numbers, just PM me your email addy.

Katie,

Where do you get those numbers and where can I search for ones for Illinois, or Cook County, IL?

Thanks!

I don't know where you can get the Cook County, IL numbers...I would check with your Dept. of Agriculture. Here is where I get the numbers, but then I put the numbers into a spreadsheet to get the statistics.
