I don't think I have ever owned a two piece and nor do I think I will ever own one.
I'm good with that. I wear shorts and my one peice suit and I'm good with that, and at least I know I look decent.

I have never looked good in a bikini because I have the "apple" body build (i.e., no waist
). I always get athletic swimwear which suits me best because when I go to the pool, I want to swim. I'm the anooying type that brings my kickboard and goggles and asks children to move out of the way so I can swim laps.

I kinda take offense to the comment that the only person who looks good in a Bikini is Angelina Jolie....

Its comments like that, that make woman so self concious.

Love your body for what it is.

Dress for your body type. And you will look good. There are diffrent kinda of two peices that fit a wide variety of people.

I own two bikinis. and I think i look great in them. But its also a matter of self confidence, and i have put on a little flab this winter. but with summer coming nd more outdoors that will go away so i am nto worried at all.

I don't look like Elle McPherson in my bikini but who cares!! I'm actually quite proud of my figure and you all should be too, it's yours and it's beautiful.
Hey!! I have seen pictures of you, and no wonder you are excited for bathing suit season...You're not exactly a hideous beast

No bikinis for me, either, but I do have a new one-piece in a much smaller size this year, so it's not as depressing as it usually is. Maybe I'll be ready for a bikini next summer
(at 37, though, probably not...my bikini years are pretty well behind me).

Yeah I'm not tan enough to go to the beach.... Why is that, why do you have to be tan to lay out? Tanning salon here I come!! haha I highly recomend the Mystic sunless tan, I was nice and tan after one session, but it's gone in a week. If only I could afford it. I really need to stop eating out,... really, I can't afford it.

I just started working on my tan 3 weeks ago. I used a dark tanning accelerator for the first weekend and have used nothing since. I HATE tanning, but everyone else around here gets so dark. So I made an effort to lay out in the sun. I have done so for the past 3 weekends and to my amazement, I have great color. Of course, I am probably going to have skin cancer with the rest of the people around here as well
I just wouldn't go to the beach until I had a tan though, so I thought I was getting a good start by laying out in the privacy of my own back yard

No you dont. And comments like that certainly dont promote a healthy self body image. I mean i have a good body. Far from perfect. but celebs are far from perfect either. they just have the great lighting, and Air brushing.

I thought the same thing when I read that post about Angelina - I'm sure she has insecurities just like any other woman, but she has the self confidence that everyone should have, thats what makes her beautiful. Not her body.

Forgive me for saying this, but string bikinis look like the things people use to tie up traditional Chinese sausages.

Everytime I see someone wearing string bikinis a picture of Chinese sausages flashes in my mind.

I aplogize for the comment in regardance to Angelina Jolie. I was reading Houston Chronicle yesterday and they had a photo gallery of the history of bikinis. All of the people featured in the photo gallery were beautiful, beautiful people.....but none of them looked very good in bikinis. There is just something about the aesthetics that interrupted the continuity of the curvature and it just looked wrong.

Thankyou so much
thats such a nice thing to say, and certainly the nicest thing anybody has said me this week! I've only ever posted pics of my face and believe me I do have body hang-ups but if I didn't want to look good in a bikini I wouldn't spend my precious evenings slogging it out in the gym. I think summer is what keeps me going when I'm on that treadmill
