O-H-I-O!
So I was looking at bathing suits for this summer and decided that I would not go to the pool this year. I'm not overweight but just haven't felt good about myself since this past winter. Anyone else feeling down about bathing suits?

Bathing suit, do they still make them
I wouldn't be caught dead in one, haven't had one in 30 yrs I'd say, to skinny for that one
I know everyone else complains about being to heavy, well it's just as bad for a size 4 ...Trying to find something that fits the body is ok, but it has to go along with age to...so i'm screwed

No. Not at all.

If somebody else wants to pay $200 for a yard of fabric then it is their choice. Nobody looks good in bikinis except Angelina Jolie.

I don't see why I should feel bad for others looking bad while paying $$$

I personally wear water aerobic suits. Bikinis are just too cold for me and I don't want to spend $$$, look horrible, and then get sick.

Oh and I might add: the guys in my life hate bikinis (especially hubby). So I think women might actually pay more attention to swimsuits than guys do.

I'm the one that started the other "swimsuit season" thread
I went swimsuit shopping a number of times already with only tears of shame afterward....It sucks, I kinda like winter because of this.

Its been quite some time since I wore a bikini!!! A one piece for me.
Even though at home I usually wear a sports bra and shorts (loose shorts)

Movin' on up!
I haven't owned a bikini, since I was 10 years old. THIS 48 y/o grandma, with stretch marks and a bit of belly flab wears a one-piece or a tankini - MUCH more appropriate.

looks like i'm the minority here but i like bikini's especially because they aren't so restrictive when i swim, the only things i don't like about them is that i have to wear extra sun screen or i'll burn and if i'm snorkelling the jellyfish can sting me more, plus, i have nothing to fill the top out with

i used to be really self consious but iv'e been eating a lot healthier and have been keeping active and for once it's payed off.

i do get shy in front of people though and grab a towel if a guy comes along...i just don't like other guys looking and get into the water asap!

that being said, there are some gorgeous bathing suits coming out now that actually look much better than a bikini and they don't fall off when you jump in the surf

The cats house, we just pay the mortgage..
I can't wait! (am I going to get shot down now?) There are some gorgeous bikini's in the shops and like I said in the other thread if I'm wearing a bikini it means I am on a beach somewhere and NOT in the UK so how could I complain? I don't look like Elle McPherson in my bikini but who cares!! I'm actually quite proud of my figure and you all should be too, it's yours and it's beautiful.

Don't worry, Lauren. I will back you up

It's been "bikini season" here for a few months now. I actually bought a new one this year and was excited to wear it. Just a thought... but I think we worry more about what we look like than anyone else does.
Don't let the fear of what other people might think keep you from going out and enjoying yourself!

I totally feel the same way! I dont even plan on buying a suit this year, unless I just find that "perfect" one.....
I really dont like swimming, but with a 2 y/o I kinda have to get in the water, and DH is getting the boat ready for the summer as well.....but I do dread even looking for one.

in a pile of open toed shoes!
I hate to admit it, but this is the 1st year I'll be hanging up my bikini for a 1 piece. I have put on weight over the last year. And it is just not attractive in a 2 piece... my job used to be running around my building 90 times a day as an assistant. I even clocked it once on a pedometer, I was walking almost 5-6 miles a day. But then I got promoted to exec asst. and I can't leave my desk. So now I have that oh-so-famous "secratary spread". And by the time I get home I'm exhausted... just keeping up on housework is tiring...and I don't sleep well so getting up early is outta the question... I know, excuses, excuses...I think we should be thin according to how nice we are... I'd be just perfect!

I kinda have to agree with Laureen - I'm not really dreading it - I don't have that bad of a body, but I do feel like crap when I see the really toned, skinny girls, I feel kinda bad, but then I remember that John loves me for ME, and I just bask in the glory that someone loves me for what I look like

And I also think that other people are so concerned on what they look like, that they probly won't be criticizing me!

YES! I love that. It's perfect. It's what I was going to say, but this one is perfection.
