I just got a new kitten today from a rescue shelter.
He's doing just fine - eating, pooping, the normal kitten stuff.

But, his left eye is running a lot and causing a green gunky buildup under his eye from time to time. I'm keeping it clean and wiping it but I'm wondering if anyone has any insight into what may cause this in a baby?

The lady at the shelter said that some kittens do that, but..I've bene around cats/ kittens all my life and never seen that just randomly happen. There's always a reason.

He just woke up from a nap and his eye is oozing green gunk, and he can hardly open it. I'm worried that its something bad.

He's not a persian or himmy.

Just a normal mix breed tuxedo cat.

Thanks guys! =]

Congratulations on your new kitty! The eye boogers could be caused by allergies, eye infection, or maybe even an upper respiratory infection, so I would be sure to get the little one to the doc ASAP on Monday. Until then, watch for any sneezing or runny nose, decrease in appetite, litter box activity, or decrease in playing. Wipe the eye goop out with a warm soft wash cloth as needed.

Keep us posted!
