Has anyone ever used clumping litter that didn't clump? We are using Arm and Hammer cat litter, and one of my cat's litter just isn't clumping up. I was wondering if it is a Ph issue or if I should switch cat litter.

I use Arm & Hammer as well, and I've noticed that some boxes have a finer, sand-like texture to them than others, and sometimes it doesn't clump as well as others. Box to box, it's a little different each time.

It does take some time for the clump to form, so if you are scooping within an hour after kitty urinates, it will fall apart pretty easily. Many hours later, it comes out as a clump.

I prefer this brand to others and despite the occasional clump disintegrating, it keeps my house odor-free and Ginger seems to like using it.

I've used it too and it doesn't seem to clump very well, compared to many other brands.
It is very good at controlling any odors though, as Gingers Mom mentioned. It also seems less dusty to me, than quite a few of the other brands.

I only use it if the store is out of Tidy Cat Small Spaces. I like that brand the best.

Why do you like it best -- less dust? I'm looking for a litter that has less dust as it plays havoc with Sadie's allergies.

Comparatively speaking, I've found it has less dust, clumps very hard and controls odors well. It tracks out of the litter box just as bad as other brands though. The Arm & Hammer seemed to track less. Possibly because the grains are much finer, more like sand and the don't stick to my cats paws as easily.

I like fresh step the best for clumpiness, though it's pretty dusty and has a rather.. unique fragrance. Though it works good on smell control. I also like the cedar version. Tidycats gets the allround vote- it isn't very dusty. I don't care for the smell of small spaces though. I don't much like generics. I used to think A & H was good, but then I bought it again after not using it for awhile and the clumps weren't that great
. Maybe it does depend on the box.

I had purchased Pet smart's brand of clumping litter and I really like it. The only problem is that it does seem a bit dusty.

Just last week, our Wal-mart finally started carrying the Special Kitty clumping stuff, so I picked up a box of it. A friend of mine uses it and loves it, so she convinced me to try it for sure.
