Far from it! I noticed that Petfinder has a lot of mislabled cats and dogs
They tend to call almost any blue cat a "russian blue".

It looks more like a british blue type and probably a blue tabby - too much stripes on it. RB's have bright green eye color - not gold. While RB kittens eyes are not totally green when young, there should be plenty of green showing.

Its possible but not likely that the father is a RB so the kitten might be an RB mix, but I would never lable that kitten as an RB

I showed and bred RB's as my first purebred - I know what they should look like

Cats.
I'm an RB breeder, this is not an RB and as it was explained, many cats are confused for an RB but RBs have some qualities (like their eyes for example) that can't be missed.

I met a lady one time that was part of a program called pet over population. The foster parents that keep the animals make guesses on what breeds the animals are. They are not 100% positive on any of the animals that they add on there. Unless they are told by the original owners what they are.

I think they also mention a breed just to get peoples attention. It is a lot easier to do this with a dog then a cat. Dogs are usually pretty clear what breeds they have mixed in, I mean more so then a cat would. But tying a purebred name to a shelter cat would boost it's chances of being adopted a little more. Not that this is necessarily the right thing to do, but I think that is why it is done.

Yes, and this is why all blue moggies are usually called Russian blue in shelters. Or if they want to be fair - RB mix (as here).

Why not? If they dont charge more it isnt wilful deception, and the cat has little easier to get a home. Which IS the goal of the shelter and us all catlovers.

So I do accept this, although owner of real russian blue boys - now fathers and grandfathers both of them.
