I was grooming/petting Sherman today and noticed this nasty thing on his leg. Anyone have a clue what it looks like? I was gonna say cat bite, but Im not so sure.
(Sorry if pic looks blurry)

Oh really? It has greenish colored stuff coming out of it. And go figure the vets closed already. He doesnt act like its causing any pain-should I worry? Or what do I do??

Hot compresses two or three times a day to draw out the infection, clean it really well.
That's about it, you don't really want to put anything on/in it until a vet acesses it and instructs you.
Just keep it open so it'll drain, otherwise the outter skin will heal first and trap infection inside.

Yes a vet should see it.
Chances are antibiotic will be prescribed.

That is an abscess for sure-I am a vet tech and have seen many of these. I recommend taking your kitty to the vet so they can clean out the wound and get your kitty started on a round of antibiotics. Warm compresses help for a while but without proper treatment it will be difficult to get healed. The greenish stuff coming out is pus and is not good for your kitty to be licking constantly. Please take your kitty to the vet as soon as you can! In the meantime we will be sending good healing thoughts your way!

That is sort of what Oreo's infection looks like on her leg! Oreo too, does not appear to be in pain but I will take her to the vet anyway on monday.

Here... or There... Hmmm
The compresses are a very good idea until you can get that cat into the vet, especially with there being greenish coloring coming out he's definitely going to need to be seen to make sure he gets the right antibiotic, depending on what bit him and if there may be rabies or another disease from another animal! Hope he does well and heals quickly!

You could try washing it with warm salty water in the meantime.

I would guess that he will need an anti-biotic injection when he sees the vet.

Hope he gets better soon
