I believe it's not harmful to plants. I have several orchids, a few rare, and they're unchanged since I sprayed the Bitter Apple on them a few weeks ago. None of the other plants has changed, either.

Then good.. I will try it now.. I will have 7 little onse all over soon and I know it is awful to cats to eat plants... I think I will spray them now and wait a week to see if there is any bad effects then I will spray weekly till the kittens just ignore them.

I have found that a lot of my problems can be solved by moving something, covering something, putting stuff away (where it belongs), and etc. So for the laundry problem, relocate the laundry basket to a place where Jackson can't get in it or get a laundry basket that has a lid.

My Hannah is a stubborn prissy little thing, but she would ignore any clapping or hissing (she has perfect hearing), so I used an empty Coke can filled with a handful of dried pinto beans. I removed the tab, dropped the beans inside, then closed the opening with duct tape. When I would catch her even thinking about doing something she wasn't supposed to do, I shook the can and firmly said, "No!" It only took a couple of months for her to figure out the boundaries. I've not had to rattle the can in quite awhile.

The can does work the best..I have like a steel coffee mug, filled with pennies..
The cats ran up the back of my computer chair, which isnt bad. BUT THEY SEEM TO HAVE A HARD TIME MISSING MY BACK. EVERYTIME THEY DO IT, I GET CLAWED..EVERYTIME..So when they do that, or get on the counters, or I catch them clawing the couch..Then I shake the can..I have 2 trained, and the new kitty to go..

But I've tried everything, and the can is wonderful

If you do use the Bitter Apple, you might try only spraying it once and then see how long that lasts. I sprayed each plant once, several weeks ago, and haven't had to reapply yet. Nice, because it means the bottle will last longer.

At least Grace jumps down when she hears me coming... not Gary. He just doesn't care!

I'm envious of the people who can clap and get their cats to listen!!!
Barkley is the same was as Gary, although when he hears me coming he immediately jumps down, unless I catch him in the act and then he reverts to a deer caught in headlights pose and just stands there looking at me

Petunia on the other hand understands when I say "NO" or "UH-UH", she also never jumps on the counter tops and rarely ventures into places she knows she is not supposed to be.

Im always afraid Barkley will do something to hurt himself, because he is rambunctious more times than not.

Clydesite is actually quite good. Here is another resource: howtodisciplineacat.com.  Both sites get you thinking about how to use the cats 5 senses for discipline.  Makes sense since we all take in our experience of the world through our 5 senses.  As for disciplining the "right" unfortunately there is no such thing for cats or even humans.  There are certainly wrong ways but right is whatever works and doesn't hurt him/her emotionally/physically/ect.  Have you made any progress on this front so far with your cat?

we Always use the spray bottle, we tried noises but we have a loud household with 6 dogs and 8 kids so noises don't really bother them. Our biggest challenge was the Christmas tree, even with his cat tree in the same room Angel(RIP) would climb the Christmas tree and get stuck in the lights! We would spray him when we saw him clawing at the bottom and that was the last year he tried to climb it, we never even had to really train the other cats, they all learned from my old boss cat that the tree was off-limits. I believe they thought the tree was spraying them! That tactic only works when you want them to have negative connotations with something like counters or Christmas trees, it should never be used to break aggressive behaviors or something you just don't want to do a certain way.

A friend of mine tried to Spray-train her cat not to throw kitty-litter when going to the potty and end up with a cat terrified of the litter box!

The thread you are posting to has been dormant for 6 years.  Please, don't use the spray bottle as it traumatizes the cats.
